Chauncey Enters the Fray!

in #introduction8 years ago

Hello everyone out there. This is my introductory post on the Steemit platform and I'm hopeful about the possibilities here. Let me provide a little background on myself and what I hope to offer content wise.

My primary field of study was history, and I think it's a topic that is quite valuable that frequently gets overlooked. One reason for this is the sad sort of “history” taught to the youth in public schools is just a form of pro-government indoctrination. You are “told” a version of history, never provided with the events that happened as accurately as possible, to think about their implications, then to attempt to use that knowledge as an aide to yourself and others in the present day. That's the true value of history, so I can see why it can get overlooked.

Of course when thinking of the implications of history you can draw a straight line from that to economics and then to energy. A saying I like is, “Money is just a symbol for energy.” Economic conditions as they stand to unfold in the near future will likely be the center point of our experience as humans. It's not something people will be able to escape simply by remaining ignorant, or clinging to convention. This will lead to some metals talk from time to time, and cryptos obviously seem to be a popular topic of discussion for this community for obvious reasons.

I also have a front row set to the death of retail in the form of my day job. Some of the stuff I am bound to say will be just me venting, but those of you who aren't working in a shop front could find the perspective to be an interesting one.

Gardening and some light prepper style stuff will likely come up from time to time. I won't be out in the woods drinking my own pee, but I do think some useful tips from my potato patch will be forthcoming. I get a buzz that's totally beyond the real material value when I'm harvesting something I've grown myself. It's both delicious and freedom. Freedom, baby.

Oh, and I'm a nerd in general and might toss some gaming and anime related stuff up, retro or otherwise. In terms of gaming, Rimworld, Minecraft, and Paradox titles get most of my play hours. I'm an anime snob at this point who can't be bothered to sift through current releases, or rather there's so much I couldn't with the time constraints, but when something good stands out, the anime bug comes back out, so there's no sense is trying to deny it here and now.

Thank you for reading this far if you made it here. Hope I earned your upvote and I will be producing more content soon.

Welcome! I enjoyed learning more about you and your introduction post. Look forward to reading your new posts.

Thanks! Hope your gardening goes well! I suppose by comparison I'm spoiled down here in Texas.
