Why I love knitting and crocheting
November 2015. It is a Friday. I am lying on my bed. Crying.
In the morning I had a cup of tea, then I went to the gym. When I came home, I had to lie down.
The rational part of my brain is working. So I tell myself to get up and drink something. But my body doesn't react.
Saturday passes. I am still lying on my bed. Worried. I know that I should get something to drink. Yet, my body doesn't move.
It is Sunday, around noon. I start panicking. Eventually the panic seems to help. I get up, go to the bathroom and drink from the tap.
Those were the darkest days of my life.
Today I am much better. During the weeks after that incident I learned that crafting helped. I started making things with yarn, having been a crocheter since childhood and a knitter since I was 18 years old.
Whenever I feel sad, angry or in any way emotional I pick up a project and make something. When I knit, crochet, spin or sew, I am at my happy place.
Let me show you my latest finished object:
The pattern is from The Geeky Hooker and can be found on ravelry.
