Hey, welcome to Steemit, fellow gardener! Once you get over the hump of the Steemit Learning Curve, you'll find this is a wonderful place to share ideas, learn from people and make friends with like-minded individuals.
Here are just a few tips that others shared with me when I first joined here:
Don't fall into the follow-for-follow trick. That is not how to succeed on Steemit. All it will likely do is fill your Feed page with things you're not interested in. There are no rewards for following people or the number of followers you have.
If you like someone's post, upvote it... even if it's not worth much right now. The thought matters most, and you will grow your Steem Power to get higher paying votes to gift to others.
Post regularly and with your original content and photos. Even if the photos aren't great. We love seeing other people's photos and reading their posts. You'll grow a genuine following this way... and that's what you'll want; people who regularly upvote, comment, and share your posts.
I also want to invite you to the SteemitHomesteaders slack community. It is a chat room/group of sorts where a lot of us Steemit Homesteaders hang out to chat, ask questions, and just get to know each other more. You don't have to be a homesteader to join. Anyone into homesteading, gardening, farming, prepping, and such is more than welcome. Here's a link to my announcement post with a little more details about slack and the group as a whole.
Thanks so much Greeny really apprecaite you taking the time to respond in such detail. Great advise, its only been a couple of days but I have realise alot of what you are saying to be true and I have already become a huge fan of the homesteaders :) will definateyl join the slack sounds great thanks.
Welcome Brother-one! Thanks for the shout-outs!
Looking forward to seeing your posts and video's. I need to get my garden figured out to make the most of the last remaining bit of rainy season. But first- Tax season.
I resteemed some articles about how to get the most out of your account if you want to check them out. Follow lots of people and write lots of comments. But then again you were the one who signed me up, so you probably know more about it than I do :)
Hello Louis-bug!
Love to Sal
Hi @zalife! I am also new to Steem and plan to write about my recent travels through Italy and France. Would you be willing to follow me @sunravelme if I follow you? I am looking forward to hearing about your garden!
Hello and welcome! Love your little terrier!!! Since you are new I thought I might share with you how Steemit works to gain rewards. I’m still new and by all means don’t have it down perfect, but I thought it might help. If you found it helpful , your more than welcomed welcome to vote up. https://steemit.com/steem/@pancheta13/overwhelmed-newbies-i-feel-your-pain

In the New Steemians project, we help new members of steem by education and resteeeming their articles. Get your articles resteemed too for maximum exposure. You can learn more about it here: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@gaman/new-steemians-project-launch
