ABOUT ME + BUDGET Travel Tips for Students!

AD6038F2-364D-4992-BADC-105865487484.jpeg“Live your life to the fullest”

That is always been my motto in life and being living life to the fullest is to be free while we are still young. I’ve been trying to travel during my long break days. And that during days, I have learned so many things and knowing myself more stronger and braver.

I’m a Civil Engineering student in recently transferred in University of Cebu, and being the hardships of being a traveller student is time and money.

Being a student, it’s very hard to have your time management flexible. Doing homework every night, taking classes everyday. You cannot fill in some vacations when you have also a short time weekend.
At the same time, you don’t have enough money to have a vacation because you are just a student and don’t take any salary but just allowance for a daily needs in schoolworks and meals.

But it doesn’t mean we cannot take a vacation because of our hectic schedule in classes and at the same time can have money. WE CAN ACTUALLY! HOW?

#1. Look at your calendar and choose a date that have a longer weekends. For example, take dates that holidays and weekends are in series.

This will help you have a longer weekends and at the same time no classes have been contradicted.

#2. When you have 2-day weekend and not enough time to travel for hours, just go to a place to unwind that is more accessible in your place that can help you unwind. If there are beaches in other city and can travel for over 30 mins only then go.

#3 To save money for vacation but you are still a student. This will kinda be hard for us but it will help us discipline when the future comes. If you have an allowance for P150 a day, leave a half or more of your allowance in your house and just spend your allowance for transportation and meal. And during snacks, just buy low cost snack that can fill in your appetite and just bring water so that you cannot buy bottled drinks at school.

#4. If you need to take a plane. Get a ticket flight that is ahead beyond the time for a month or a year maybe. This will cost you much more lesser than getting a ticket within a week or a day.

The other one is wait for a promo ticket. Flight agencies will always have promos domestic or international. This will cost half of the regular rate or maybe a one peso fare if you will get lucky.

#5 And when you are in an another country or another place that you don’t have a house to stay in and hotels for you are very expensive. Try a tablet room that will cost you P300 only for a night. If you want cheaper beds, there are lodges and bed spacers that will cost you not more than P200. You can also check Airbnb for cheaper place.

As a Filipino Student, I have been going through the Philippines especially Mindanao— my birth place!
