We would like to present you with our latest progress update. Please read below for a rundown of some important things that have occurred in the last weeks.
China Updates

Strategic Partnership with Hangzhou Blockchain Alliance

On 7th May, the Hangzhou Blockchain Alliance (HBA) visited Wanchain Beijing office led by HBA’s chairman Mr. Kai Ge and CEO Mr. Jack Lu.

Mr. Li Ni, VP of BD and marketing had a great meeting with HBA team discussing the blockchain business cooperation in China. HBA is an association with over 50 key shareholders in the Chinese blockchain industry. Wanchain’s WANLab and HBA formed a strategic cooperation focused on developing potential blockchain projects inside WANLab.

Ms. Lizzie Lu and Ms. Sonia Xu from Wanchain’s BD and marketing team also attended the meeting.

Meeting with Foreign Economic Cooperation Centre of Ministry of Agriculture in China

On 8th May, Wanchain was invited by Foreign Economic Cooperation Centre (FECC) of Ministry of Agriculture China (MOA) to give a presentation on how blockchain can reshape the traditional agricultural business.

The meeting also included several agricultural officials from Mongolia, Malaysia, India, Afghanistan together with MOA staff. Mr. Li Ni, VP of Wanchain, made the presentation to the guests and discussed the possibility of helping each country’s ministry adopt use of Wanchain’s blockchain platform.

First One Belt and One Road Innovation Forum (Xiamen, China)

 

On the 11th May, Wanchain was invited by the First One Belt and One Road Innovation Forum in Xiamen, Fujian. Mr. Li Ni made a speech to the forum of over 1,000 attendees at Jiageng Theatre on how the cross-chain technology could bridge the many isolated blockchains in today’s ecosystem.

Belt and Road Initiate Conference (BARIC)

On 12th May, BARIC (Belt and Road Initiative Conference) and InnoFund, the largest angel fund group in China, invited Wanchain to attend the forum in Xiamen, Fujian.

Mr. Li Ni represented the team in the panel session and shared details on Wanchain’s cross-chain technologies and future development to over 300 tech startups.

Wanchain Name Service (WNS)

WNS is the Wanchain Name Service, a distributed, open, and extensible naming system based on the Wanchain blockchain. More details, please see https://github.com/wanchain/wns/blob/master/docs/introduction.rst

This solution (WNS) will allow users to register domain names for their wallet addresses instead of having to use the current system of a combination of letters and numbers. To pave the way for mainstream adoption there are needed changes to simplify the process. WNS has similar properties to the current internet DNS.

After we deploy the smart contract of WNS, anyone could register own domain names on Wanchain by bidding. In the beginning, top-level domain name “.wan” will be open to register with minimum 6 characters. For example, “Jacklu.wan”. “Bitcoin.wan”.

We are proud to announce a partnership with Portal Network（www.portal.network） that specializes in creating domain names for wallet addresses.

Alpha Testnet Form

 

We will release the Alpha Testnet Form for Wanchain 2.0 in the coming days. Please stay tuned!

Wanchain Team Updates

 

Michael Liao, Former CIO and Board Member of General Motors Asset Management, Appointed to Wanchain’s Executive Committee

Michael Liao, former Chief Information Officer of General Motors Asset Management — the roughly $110 billion Pension Fund Investment arm of General Motors — has been appointed to Wanchain’s Executive Committee, effective immediately.

Currently, Michael serves as Founder and Managing Partner of his own capital markets firm, Greater China Capital Markets USA, where he engaged to lead a private equity firm to acquire a US based bank, conducted post acquisition integration efforts while liaising between the existing bank employees/union and new management team.

Prior to that, Michael served as Founder and CEO of the Capital Markets arm of Peking University Founder Group, a major industrial conglomerate with over 35,000 employees focused on serving the IT, finance, real estate, education and healthcare sectors.

Michael has extensive experience in global financial service, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, risk management, and transformational leadership. We are thrilled to have such a talented leader joining our team, and are confident that his expert guidance and unique global perspective will be invaluable as we look to rebuild the financial industry.

Wanchain’s Dustin Byington to Pursue New Project Focused on Accelerating the Development of the Wanchain Ecosystem

Wanchain team member Dustin Byington has stepped down from his current roles in order to spearhead a new project focused on growing and building the Wanchain ecosystem. We look forward to sharing more details on this project in the coming months.

Dustin’s current responsibilities will be divided between two highly qualified Wanchain Vice Presidents, Li Ni and Oliver Birch. Li Ni has been responsible for business development, PR, and Marketing in the Asian markets. Oliver has been leading community management across all of Wanchain’s global platforms. We are excited for Li Ni and Oliver to take on these new leadership responsibilities and expect both to make considerable contributions to the company in their new roles.

We are excited to announce a number of new team members. Our team members are very experienced in the blockchain space and have have already demonstrated great capacity.

1、Dynal Patel, PhD — Director of Strategic Partnerships

Accomplished executive with a strong track record of delivering innovative products and solutions to the market and developing market leading partner ecosystems. Leads the development and execution of strategic partnerships at Wanchain. Has over 15 years of management experience in leading technology and telecommunication companies such as Vodafone, Altran Technologies and Microsoft. Holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cape Town and is a certified Project Management Professional.

2、Scott Trowbridge

Degree in Computer Science, Business & Marketing. 7+ years experience in technology startup growth. Experience project managing several global business development teams. Expert in accelerating early-stage companies.

3、Mimi Chu

Graduated from Aalborg University, Denmark with BSc and MSc degrees in Medialogy. Academic background in HCI and innovative design. Over 7 years in international marketing especially BD and project management. Lived in Denmark for 15 years and work in cross functional teams and international circumstance. Detail-oriented and structured in planning and implementation. Marathon runner.

4、Ruby Wang

Graduated from Beijing University of Chemcial Technology with Master degree of Chemical Engineering. 4 years of general industry in marketing and consulting experience. Love playing Guqin and Yoga in spare time.

5、Sonia Xu

Graduated from Peking University, China with Bachelor in HR management. Over 6 years in Human Resource industry, specialized in HR management and event planning. Strong communication skills and good understanding of client’s needs, especially in Chinese market. Curious about new challenges. Loves cooking and enjoy the process from 0 to completion.

Wanchain Malaysia Trip (April 2018)

 

On April 24th, 2018, Bryan YE, the Marketing Manager of Wanchain in Beijing paid a visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, starting a one-week journey with Wanchain Community Manager Mark Tan in Malaysia. This was Wanchain’s very first visit to Malaysia of the ASEAN region.

Recent conversations among Malaysians commonly revolve around topics such as blockchain, cryptocurrencies, smart contracts and ICO — highlighting the wide array of cryptocurrency communities in the nation. With the support of the Central Bank (Bank Negara Malaysia), the vibrant cryptocurrency scene in Malaysia has caught the attention of Wanchain.

Wanchain visited the NEM Blockchain Centre in Kuala Lumpur. It is one of the biggest blockchain centre in SEA to date. Since Wanchain offers cross chain solutions, the collaboration with alternative protocols like NEM, will result in ever-growing innovation.

Wanchain also attended a panel discussion on the future of cashless payment in Malaysia, an event held in the Securities Commissions of Malaysia. Wanchain met up with one of the organizers, in anticipation for a chance at collaboration in the near future as Wanchain rebuilds finance.

The first meetup took place in Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur, where Bryan and Mark did a presentation introducing Wanchain and WANLab. WANLab is an accelerator and incubator program designed specifically to assist projects in pre-ICO, ICO and post ICO stages.

This is just the beginning of Wanchain’s journey in the ASEAN countries.
