Hi, this is Troy. I practice survival skills, outdoor adventure, hiking, fishing, hunting and disaster preparedness plans. My wife and I love to go out in the wilderness to practice our skills and use our gear.

We often head out into the woods using a topographic map and a compass to find places where no man has gone before. We take whatever we can carry on our backs and head off into the wild for days at a time just to see if we can do it.

Both of us have a BOB (Bug Out Bag) and we practice using the gear often. If the grid goes down we will be ready.

But my channel is about a lot more than that.

I often review cool gear and products for hunting, fishing, camping and hiking. I am always improving my bug out bag and changing the gear I carry. Only the best stays in my BOB.

The two of us also practice frugal living at home as well as in the field. We study the old ways and forage for wild edibles on our large homestead.

We prepare, process and preserve our own food. We look for bulk food deals which we can stock up on for emergency use.

One time many years ago I lost my job and had to use my money to pay the rent rather than for food as I was looking for a new job. At that time it took me three months to find a new job. I was living in New York City at the time and the cost of living is very high there.

But I was a survivor and a prepper. I had months worth of food put away for just such an emergency. I was able to stay well fed on my preps while looking for work. Things worked themselves out and I never forgot my real World experience.

Eventually I moved out of the city and into the country. The day I moved a blizzard hit and buried my car under feet of snow. The snow also took out the power. I had just moved my gear into the apartment the night before and woke up to no heat, no water and no power. It took me three days to dig my car out of the snow and get a path to the road.

During that time I piled up the snow against the side of the apartment for insulation and used a little propane heater for warmth. Melted snow provided my water and my preps kept me fed. I was actually able to work as usual on the internet by charging up my cell phone and laptop using small emergency batteries for power.

I have lived through two devastating hurricanes in Upstate New York as well as many blizzards and power outages. My preps have always helped keep me comfortable while others suffered in the nearby areas.
