Hi, I’m Tom Hillman!
Nice to meet you guys and to finally join Steemit! I’m a tech/media industry guy and currently live in London, UK. I’ve been working in the digital space for around 10-years now, and have worked for people like Guardian Media Group, Metal Hammer and Classic Rock Magazine, and more recently moved into the eSports/games industry where I work for a company called Level Up Media.
Outside of my work, I love art, design and photography. I have passions for reading (currently on Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson), learning (this new Udemy coding course is kicking my ass), cooking (my favourite new recipe is tequila chicken), film (The Beguiled was weird), and computer games (Destiny 2, my body is ready).
I’ve been fortunate to get around a bit but my favourite places in the world have to be New Hampshire, The Isle of Skye, and Tokyo. If I could do anything though and money was no problem, I’d set up an otter sanctuary; as far as I’m concerned, aside from dogs, they’re the best animals on the planet.
Well, nice to meet you all and I’m so happy my account got approved on Steemit. As someone who loves making sure that great stories reach people, I love what Steemit stands for and how it’s bringing power back to the people!
EDIT: Oh! And you can follow me on Twitter

Welcome. What was Tokyo like? Never been to Japan, but would like to go.
It was really interesting, the best time to go is when all the cherry blossom is out in March/April. We found that you can definitely get by in Tokyo without speaking any Japanese as a lot of people speak English and a lot of the signage is in English.
My number one tip though is to make sure you get a WiFi hotspot that hooks up to their 4G network, it's pretty cheap for a couple of weeks and allows you to get around with Google Maps and Google Translate; you can pick them up from the airport when you arrive if you book them in advance.
