Hello from a student of humanity
Hello, my name is Chris Ver Voort. I just received my B.A. in Anthropology/Sociology this past May, and I am leaving for Senegal in September to work with the Peace Corps as an agroforestry volunteer. I plan to post about music, language, culture(s), nature, and more.
I love the idea of a new social media community and a decentralized economic meritocracy. I feel that everyone has a great deal to share with the world that isn’t given any value in our current system.
I am an avid musician, photographer, hiker, and writer.
I am an observer, listener, and seeker of knowledge and beauty.
As a student of anthropology I am fascinated in the different ways in which people express themselves and socialize, depending on the context of culture, or social media platform. I look forward to taking part in this new socioeconomic space, where we can all try to bring a little humanity back to the internet. The true spirit of humanity can be found here through communication, cooperation, and coordination.
I enjoy listening to and playing music, with a great interest in traditional musical cultures of the world. I have been making my own music and recording it since I was a freshman in high school, and haven’t stopped since. Below is a link to all of my music, which is mostly electroacoustic guitar, synthesizers, and some other instruments such as mbiras, ukuleles, and flutes. My music is often abstract and improvisational. I am self-taught and have developed my own style of ambient/chaotic music. I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks so much chicosonico! Can't wait to check our your music, thanks for the listen. Forest folk is a good way to describe it... I may have to use that term!
A lot of music in your Bandcamp! Well done, man. I like A Machine Organic...
Thanks dude, that was a totally improvised (as many of mine are) concept album about a pretty abstract train of thought I had... Named linear existence (life) vs nameless nonlinear existence (death, and things beyond our realm of perception)... real and surreal, ambient and chaotic.
Welcome to Steemit!
