Caution on the use of Gas cooker.

No one will say they don't cook, at least over 80% of the world cook once a day.

This cooking maybe done by different means either cooking with fire wood or charcoal or even the modern means which is using the Gas cooker.

The act of cooking with gas has proven to be one of the fastest ways to cook, and the fact that it does not leave any stain on the cooking Pot or Pan is another added advantage.

This gas cooker is dangerous if not handled with optimum care.

Countless of times I have read stories and seen the hazard coursed by gas cylinders explosions...

We all know that explosion caused by gas can be dangerous and may end up destroying lot of life's and properties...

Extra measures should be taken in other to keep our cylinders safe, there are various safety precautions that must be followed when the use of the gas cylinder is being employed.

• when refilling your gas in the gas station make sure that no pressure remains in the gas cylinder. You can do this by opening the lock key of the cylinder to let the pressure out before you take it for refill.

• Battery operated items should not also be very close to the spot where you are refiling your cylinder.

• It is also not advisable to use your car to take your gas cylinder back home after a refill because taking it in your car means you would have to lay the cylinder sideways and this may cause the content in the gas cylinder to touch the valve which is located on the opening point of the cylinder, but if you can stand it then there is no problem.

This valve is made of rubber and when it comes in contact with the liquid in the cylinder it can freeze. This act of the freezing would make the valve weaken, and this can lead to a leakage of the gas cylinder.

• Do not also attempt to repair any leakage or faults on your gas cylinder rather take them to a certified cylinder test station operator for checking and repair.

• Many people shake their gas cylinder to know the level of gas content in it, I know that you are guilty of it 🤪.

Please and please, you don't have to shake the gas cylinder to know the level of its content, Most times we shake our gas cylinders to know if it's finished or not, that's a dangerous thing to do. It could be suicidal!, I know what you are thinking ( you will say "but I do this always and nothing happens" don't be stupid you are only being lucky and may run out of luck one day), as am writing this, I saw a woman shaking her big cylinder, I called her to order, I was surprised to see her reaching out for a jar of water to wet the cylinder, this means that she knows the right thing to do yet she was so lazy to do it 🤦🏻‍♂.

This is what to do, wet a side of the cylinder with water you can as well mix it with detergent so as to form lather, after a while the used top part will be dry while the lower part with gas will remain wet for some minutes.

The wet portion tells you the amount of gas left.

• I know you may not know that cylinders have an expiring date, well now you know.. You can find this expiring date beneath the cylinder. The expiring date should be noted in order to avoid explosion. That is why is not advisable to buy second hand cylinder because you can't figure out the date when it will expire. When purchasing cylinder, make sure it is certified by Standard Organization of Nigeria ( this is for Nigerians, I don't know about other countries). Some cylinders have 5 years duration before expiring while some are 13 years, you need to know the exact duration.

• Filling the gas to the brim: Some people will fill as much as 7kg of gas in a 5kg cylinder 😲😲(like wdf), the makers that tagged it 5kg has a reason for doing so, is not like they don't know that the cylinder can contain much more. Filling the gas cylinder to the brim can cause explosion.

• This last caution is always violated by many... When making calls or using your phone, do not go close to the cylinder, I repeat Do Not Go Close to the cylinder while it is on, this art is very dangerous and can cause explosion...

I know it maybe difficult but try and avoid doing the above mentioned.
