WHY DO YOU WANT TO FOLLOW ME?

Although I just discovered Steemit a couple weeks ago, I couldn't be more excited!  While Facebook and Twitter have turned into government censored propaganda machines, Steemit will give the power of free speech back to the people!  Finally, a social platform where ANY voice from ANY background can CHANGE THE WORLD!

I will do ANYTHING to help Steemit succeed!  Luckily, I have everything I need right now, so I have plenty of time and energy that I am willing to put into my articles and projects!  I am very excited about some of my ideas to use this platform to actually change people's lives and increase the public's awareness of Steemit.  

I also want to use some Steemit posts to make donations to some non-profits and communities, and I will let MY FOLLOWERS decide who I donate to!  Eventually, my followers could decide who I interview or even where I travel to.  Help me change the world, and we'll change the world together!

MY STORY

A quick background story, so you can understand who I am and where I'm coming from.  I was a high school math teacher in Nebraska when I traveled to New Orleans for the summer to volunteer after Hurricane Katrina.  I ended up living in New Orleans for over 8 years!  I was working as a server on Bourbon Street (unfortunately, the money was WAY better than teaching), when Bernie Sanders lit my hair on fire.

In one of the most random and crazy decisions of my life, I quit my job in April and drove to New York City to volunteer for Bernie a couple weeks before the April 19th primary.  Although the 16 point loss to Hillary Clinton was heartbreaking (and highly questionable), the experience was life-changing!  Although Bernie's hopes of winning the nomination took a body blow in New York, I only became more determined to spread Bernie's message of love and hope.  I drove thousands of miles chasing Bernie around the country, from New York to Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, and Louisville, all the way up to Seattle and down through California. 

I got into the NBA Finals Game 1 during the 2nd quarter after a long day of canvassing!

I became so outraged at the shenanigans of the DNC and the media against Bernie, that I again made the long journey across the U.S. to be in Philadelphia for the Democratic National Convention.  I was among tens of thousands of angry protestors outside of the Wells Fargo Center for four of the HOTTEST days of my life.  I have many more thoughts on my experiences and the current state of the Democratic Party, but I will go into those another time!

Since the summer, I have been Uber/Lyft driving and spending time with family and friends in Nebraska.  I learned about blockchains and decentralized currencies earlier this year, and it has completely reinvigorated my hope for humanity.  Currently, all my free time is going into learning new and interesting things every day.  Hopefully, you will enjoy it as much as I do!
