What is going on here? Typical Newbie Question (Post #1)
Hello everyone! I just signed up a couple of days ago and I couldn't be more excited.
I had to think about what to post first though that's why it took me about 48 hours to finally decide. I told myself I will probably not going to write an "introduceyourself" post first since I don't know what to tell or maybe I have too much to tell. I have to be honest with you guys and admit that I have no idea what to write first. I mean, what's going on here really? See? Told yah. Okay here goes.
My name is Ruth, 25 years old, living in the southern tropical islands of the Philippines. I'm also a surfer. Not as good as the ones you see on social media platforms where their videos totally rock cause they're ripping every wave they get with such grace and control. I will be like them someday, maybe sooner if only a decent surfing spot from where I live isn't 9 hours away. I know I know. It's hard.
Probably the nicest image I have of me surfing. I used a longboard on this one.
I also paint. I am an artist by heart. I remember getting medals and awards like "Best in Painting" in my primary school when I was like about 8 years old. I started painting using acrylics and canvas recently (about a month ago). I tried watercolor, colored pencils, and oil pastels but I find them difficult to work with. But like they say, to each his own so if you can give me some pieces of advice on how watercolor or colored pencils will be fun for me, then I am all ears.
Here are a couple of my paintings I worked on last month. Please note that I am still a newbie on this and I would like to thank my alma mater, the Youtube Academy of Arts for all these. hehehe
This one I made out of a video tutorial #noshame. hehehe
On this painting I just took my time to play with the colors.
I also have been doing martial arts lately. Specifically Brazillian Jiu Jitsu. Anybody who's a practitioner or a fan of the sport? Please raise your hand. It's okay I will probably not see those hands but yeah I mean let me know so we can talk about it!! It's an interesting art and been doing it for a month now. I've had struggles and small victories, body pains and "battle scars" (as what I'd like to call my scars) but it's been hella fun and I'd probably compete in the future when I get confident and strong enough (please don't tell my mom).
This is my Jiu Jitsu Family right here:
And yes we are a fun gang but serious on the mats. I'm very happy to have known this group of people. We are learning every day. I am learning every day. Shouldn't we all?
Okay so you guys already know that I surf, paint, and does jiu jitsu. A lot of things are still left unsaid and I could write on and on about it in this introduceyourself post but I don't want this post to be too long ( I felt like it is already so I'm gonna stop now. )
Hope you guys are somewhat entertained or rather inspired by this cause what I'm really trying to say here is, if you want to learn something, then go do it. Just do it.
Cheers!
R
