<Raise Uganda Now (RUN) meets STEEM> #1
Hey Steemit folks!
Super excited to join this wonderful community.
Who Are We?
We are Raise Uganda Now (RUN), a non-profit based in Cambridge MA (USA) and Nankoma Village (Uganda). We run a small orphanage called RUN Children’s Home, taking care of 45 orphans who had lost either or both their parents and were found in unimaginable situations.
Why We Do It
Aside from the 8 local staff members in Uganda, our operations are entirely college-student run (excuse the pun) who receive no pay, so all the funds we raise can go directly to the children.
Though we come from all kinds of backgrounds, whether it’s by country (South Korea, United States, Belgium, etc.) or professions/aspirations (military, medical, diplomatic, engineering, law, etc.), we’ve shared our love for children and social impact, bringing us to where we are over the past 3 and a half years!
The Plan
Starting today, we want to share with you short blurbs, photos (often those we took ourselves, or even by our own kids!), and videos that deliver you everything:
from the lives of the young boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 14,
our journey in earning the trust and respect of the locals,
the adventures we experienced from the chandeliered classrooms of Harvard to the streets in the slums of Uganda,
sometimes as threaded episodes, others as standalone tales,
we would like to invite you to a read, learn, and contribute to a community that is as real as your couch and laptop.
Social Impact, and Beyond
To the naysayers who think that cryptocurrency has no worth beyond the fueling of greed, we want to show them how a community like Steemit can truly generate tangible value (sometimes in the form of a bed, or clothes, or books, or even clean water) on the opposite side of the globe. And yes, we are all about transparency--more to come on that soon.
*Note that postings here on out will rotate Korean, English, and Chinese
We are so excited to embark on this journey with you.
And without further ado, here we go!
Hi, glad you choose steemit to be able to spread humanitarian works. I salute you for taking good care of these poor children for providing their needs. It won't be easy on their part as well living in this world without their parents.
Thanks @purepinay, we’re no Superman or Wonderwoman, but we sure will try to keep on making a difference one child at a time!
I hope you really have an impact there! I have so much love Uganda and its peple, it changed my life going there. I really hope what we are doing here, can help you make a difference out there.
Peace ✌ 🐮
Hey, I have lived in Uganda for over 10 years and poverty is a big problem in the rural areas. Its great to see someone take initiative to help improve lives.
We’ve been in it and we’re still here for the long haul :)

@yohan2on thank you :) we’ll keep this effort going sebo!
Good work your doing. Children are the future. Whenever you help them you help create a future of people with roots. And a people that is rooted is a nation unshakable. Thanks for helping to wash away the disillusionment that a bad childhood can breed. Bless you.
So true @easydimes—we’ll keep on pushing so the kids can keep on dreaming :)
