A Brief Explanation About What This Account Is For

in #introduceyourself7 years ago

As we've seen, upvoting abuse is rampant on Steemit.

People upvote themselves senseless, draining the reward pool in the process.
Some of them even open a collection of bots to farm Steem.

This abuse should be countered with flags. Flags put Steem back in the reward pool. Taking a chunk of the abusers stolen revenue, and allows it to be redistributed to decent members when they get upvoted.

Currently this account was given a loan of 1500 Steem, to use for votes.

Each day the account will issue 8 flags to abusers, and 4 upvotes to increase it's voting power for the next rounds.

With this 8\4 ratio, the account will bring twice as much SP back to the reward pool, than it would take from it.

Additionally if anyone wants the SP returned to the pool to be greater, a delegation would be a perfect way to do that.

If other people upvote posts and comments from this account, it will allow me to issue more than 8 flags a day, and upvote myself less accordingly.

Reports will be done every few days to notify how much SP\SBD was returned to the pool by my actions.

Logo, and banner pictures will be added soon.

Have you seen a small fish abusing upvotes?
Tell me their name so I can make it right, sadly I can't go after dolphins or whales, yet

Yes @rppa is self voting 4 times per day and raping the reward pool. :P

@justtryme90
Not if I flag 8 times in the same day.
Basically I put twice as much Steem back in the reward pool, compared to what I take from it.

You are making a bot set out to flag people for self voting, and then going around and self voting (aka "raping the reward pool"). That's hypocrisy at it's finest IMO. Not saying I am also not a hypocrite in this regard sometimes as well, but lets call a spade a spade.

Basically I put twice as much Steem back in the reward pool, compared to what I take from it.

All you are doing is re-directing "reward pool rape" into your own wallet.

All you are doing is re-directing "reward pool rape" into your own wallet.

I preffer to write this like this:

All you are doing is re-directing "reward pool rape" into your own wallet.

It does look better in bigger font. Indeed.

And how do you expect the account to get stronger and be able to bring more SP back to the pool?
It's not like I have 50K in whale delegations that will allow me to focus on flagging exclusively
As long as the ratio is 2\1 in favor of flags, I'm having a positive impact on the community, when that changes, then you can acuse me of rape

The generally approved way to grow an account is by adding value to the community, through posts, comments, and other stuff. Self voting your articles is one thing, but upvoting comments strictly for the sake of generating rewards for your account is typically frowned upon.

Then again, it's anarchy here, and all up to other stakeholders to determine if they feel your behaviour is excessive or not.

I would agree that a habit of downvoting excessive self voters and then rewarding yourself 4 100% votes a day seems discongruent to me

I don't. I don't think what you are doing is a good idea. All it is, is continuing to 'rape the reward pool.'

Then I guess you don't know how math works.

And if you think my method is so bad, why not consult the top stakeholders on Steem, to see what they think?
Maybe you're a bit uptight about ethics, that you can't see the big picture? Ever thought about that?
Sadly almost nothing is done to combat abusers, and I have no intention to spend an hour a day, just to bring back 4$ of Steem to the reward pool.
For it to be worth my time, I need to bring hundreds of dollars back the community, because that will actually make a difference, unlike the pocket money I can return with my current SP

Just half of it ;)

@justtryme90 has a point, if you are self voting to fund your operation against self voting it's hypocritical.

If you want to do something ethically you'll need to be completely above board in your action. Just do the flags.

I don't care about ethics, I care about results.
If I can bring more $$ back to the reward pool that way, then that's what I should do.
If ethics limit our effiency, then what's the point in having 'em?

Are serious? An opposition to self voting can only be on ethical grounds. You're trying to have your cake and eat it.

In any case you are factually wrong. You won't bring more $$ to the reward pool the way you are proposing.

There are already well funded projects from the top stake holders and others that address this problem at the level you are aiming.

You rather use that SP to support some struggling community.

You will just end up disturbing the real police when you get your 30 Rep destroyed and will be asking for help.
