Hello steemit this is my introductory post. I am rank 5 overall on a game called Old School Runescape. A few weeks ago I had a very unfortunate experience with my hard drive crashing and my backup being corrupt. This left me having to start all over. Here a list of programs and extensions that I use and have installed since beginning all over. My hope is for you to be able to provide some feedback for me, as well as discover some useful programs or extensions you were previously unaware about. I’ll provide a brief description and what I like about each item. If you would like to recommend any that I do not have on here or think there are some on here that do not belong on the list I would love to hear your feedback on twitter.

If you end up downloading any of these from the list let me know.

Games/Emulators

MeMu - Emulator for android phone on your PC. I use this to play Clash of Clans on my computer but you could download anything in the app store and play it on your computer this way.

PSCX2 - Playstation 2 emulator where you can play many of the PS2 classics from back in the day at the click of a button. My personal favorites on this are the NFL and NBA street games.

Visual Boy Advance - Gameboy Advance emulator. I use this to play Pokemon games on the PC.

Dolphin Emulator - Emulates a Gamecube and practically any gamecube game on your PC. Mario kart and mario party.

Steam - I don’t use this anywhere near as much as I should given the amount of games that I have for it but I know it will be there when the time comes that I will be AFKing on Runescape most of the time that I am on.

Runescape Clients

I am rank 5 overall on Old School Runescape so that it why there is such a big section of Runescape clients.

OSBuddy - Best client from my experience for Slayer/Agility/GE stuff. Really wish it had audible alerts like how Konduit and Runeloader do.

Konduit - I find this Old School Runescape client to be my universal favorite of the ones out there. I use this for pretty much all my alts because of their idle alerts. It is an absolute shame they stopped updating this.

Runeloader - Really love their idle alerts. Set up to be warned when my prayer drops to 10/5/3/etc to ensure prayers are always up. I use this mainly for training in NMZ on my other accounts. A little different than Konduit idle alerts and different enough to have a good use.

Old School Runescape Client - For those Thursday mornings and Thursday mornings only.

Runescape 3 - For whenever you need to transfer RSGP. I really hope you don’t actually play this game.

Music

iTunes - At this point I only use iTunes for podcasts. Spotify doesn’t have really any of the sports podcasts on there that I love (First Things First, Undisputed, Purple Podcast, Purple FTW Podcast, and any podcast of a team the Vikings are playing against)

Spotify - The best streaming music service out there. After the tragic loss of my hard drive I can’t imagine how upset I would be if I stored all of my music locally (like you and I did years ago) and lost it all. Having the smallest storage iPhone allows me to still have an unlimited amount of songs/podcasts where before streaming services we were either limited or buying the most storage.

MusicBrainz Picard - An incredibly helpful tool for organizing and managing your locally stored music on your computer. Really wish I had become aware of this years ago.

Computer Maintenance

I don’t really know how much this stuff helps if at all but I like to tell myself they are good.

CCleaner - Clean junk on computer and removes unneeded files

Driver Booster - Updates your drivers automatically

Advanced SystemCare 11 - Helps clean up your PC and make it run more smoothly. Optimize certain programs and settings on your computer like startup programs and more.

IObit Uninstaller - A better and more advanced way of uninstalling programs from your computer. Displays a lot of information about the programs such as last time used/file size/etc. I like this much more than the default “uninstall a program” on your computer. It also will removes all files associated with that program that are left behind after the install which the default way most of the time does not do.

Smart Defrag 5 - Disk defrag software. Keep it clean and keep it fast.

IObit Malware Fighter - Have never actually had to use it to remove any malware but I have it run scheduled checks every couple days.

Voice Chat

Discord - Makes it easy to chat with the boys. King of this category.

Skype - Text/Voice communication. Has really faded away in the last couple of years with the rise of Discord but I still keep it lying around for a reason I can’t even think of.

Teamspeak - Similar to Skype in that it has started to become irrelevant at least for me with the rise of Discord. I do occasionally have to use this when speaking with players who do not use Discord however like the DMM team I was on. A VERY underrated aspect of TS is checking your packet loss.

Web Browsers

Google Chrome - Internet browsing. My favorite of all the major ones.

Mozilla Firefox - Inferior to Chrome but sometimes I have to use this when Chrome is being bad.

Customization

Rainmeter - Customize your desktop to such a level of customization you can’t imagine. I used to have a massive amount of icons on my desktop but used some skins to put even more on the desktop but in a much more convenient and organized fashion. Working on getting the Runescape Farm clock as a skin on my desktop currently. Endless amounts of customization.

Classic Shell - I just simply do not like the Windows 10 start menu.

Office Tabs - Browse through your multiple excel/word documents like how you do with multiple tabs open when browsing the internet. Nice and small quality of life.

QTTabBar - Browse through your multiple file explorer windows like how you do with multiple tabs open when browsing the internet. Nice and small quality of life.

DisplayFusion - Customize your wallpaper settings. I use this when I have 3 different wallpapers for 3 different monitors.

Recording/Editing

Photoshop - Image editing software. My favorite way to edit images.

Camtasia Studio - Video editing software. My favorite way to edit videos.

Notepad++ - Best text editing software which displays a more information and has tabs of documents you have edited. Much better than normal notepad.

OBS Studio - Used for recording videos and streaming.

StreamLabs - Keep track and post followers/bits/donations/etc on stream. Logs all information in basic text files.

Miscellaneous

Everything - A better and more effective way of searching items in your computer than the regular search bar.

AutoHotKeys - Because Windows Mouse keys are clunky and not user friendly.

ShareX - Took over Puush essentially. I was a big fan of Puush but when I had to redownload everything ShareX has taken Puush’s place. ShareX provides everything you would expect in that it locally saves your screenshot as well as instantly upload and provide a link for screenshot.

F.lux - I still don’t love this software but I do use it for 30 minutes or so before I go to bed just to ease my way into a nice sleep.

Adobe Acrobat Reader - PDF Reader. Pretty straight forward. Everyone needs one and this is the one I prefer.

PowerISO - Create, edit, mount, burn ISOs.

WinRAR - Unzip and compress files.

A password manager - A local or cloud based password manager. Pick whatever one you find to fit best.

Razer Synapse - Customize your Razer peripherals settings

YTD Video Downloader - The most efficient and easy way to download videos/playlists from Youtube.

Teamviewer - Before Chrome Remote Desktop there was Teamviewer for Phone Zoning. Early boys remember. Teamviewer does offer some features that Chrome Remote Desktop doesn’t where CRD is more for you to access your own stuff Teamviewer makes it easier to allow access to others to your PC. I had to use Teamviewer with a friend who was helping me set up my computer.

uTorrent - For when you can't find what you’re looking for for free.

Viewing Pleasure

Ace Player - Used for watching high quality streams. I use this to watch live streams of basketball and football games that I can’t get on TV. I also used this for the McGregor/Mayweather fight. Pretty much all sporting events can be watched on this with a provided stream link id that you should be able to find on reddit.

VLC Media Player - Has more customizations to it than the Windows Media Player and my favorite feature on it is being able to change the playback speed by default.

Kodi - For those very rare occasions a show or movie you want to watch is not available on any of your usual streaming sites or downloadable as a torrent. A backup to the usual watchable methods.

Enounce Myspeed - Change playback speeds of whatever video you are watching (might be the only program I have ever paid for) I couldn’t find any programs that would work with HBO videos and this was my solution to that.

Microsoft Office

Microsoft Excel - Excel and word are really kind of off to the side now since I use google docs and sheets for 99% of the time instead. I do however store some information with these.

Chrome Extensions

Chrome Remote Desktop - This may be a thing of the past soon with Old School Mobile coming out but I have had many great memories with this app over the years. #PhoneZone. Does the same as Teamviewer but just better.

The Great Suspender - Chrome extension that suspends whatever page you have open i your tab if it has been inactive for X amount of time. Can whitelist certain sites and clicking the tab unsuspends the page.

HTTPSEverywhere - It will protect you against many forms of surveillance and account hijacking, and some forms of censorship.

Honey - Automatically finds and applies coupon codes if they exist for most anything you would buy online. Save money.

Hover Zoom - Enlarges pictures

uBlock Origin - Blocks ads

Oddshot - capture the last 30 seconds of a livestream and generates a link to share and view

Enhanced Steam - Displays useful information while browsing Steam and enhances the buying experience.

Keepa - Tracks the price of Amazon items and provides a history of the price on a chart for you to see on that items page.

Check Plus for Gmail - Displays the number of unread messages in your Google Mail inbox. You can also click the button in extensions bar to open your inbox.

Chrome Visual Customization

BetterTTV - Improves overall viewing experience on twitch and has a lot of customizations. Play around with it to fit your viewing experience best.

Stylish - A community of redesigned skins for sites. A few nice skins for all the major sites.

Dark Reader - All white screens are the absolute worst when the lights are off.

Reddit Enhancement Suite - A whole lot of small features to improve reddit.

If there are any programs or chrome extensions that are not on here that you would recommend please let me know and I will check it out.
