Hello World
As this is only an introduction, I won't have much to say.
I'm a failed academic. To make a long story short, in the course of my studies, I encountered a truth that turned me away from institutions of higher learning. What is this truth?
We prefer to believe that our civilization is guided by an enlightened rationality that is disenchanted by the superstition of previous ages. However, the truth is that the spirit guiding us is not enlightened, not rational, and not disenchanted. Our world is upside down. Most of us are unaware of the spell under which we labor.
My purpose here is to overthrow the apparent ruling structure of this world by means of discovery.

I think I agree with you, but I can't be sure until you tell me more.
Science (the enlightened rationality) is, in my opinion, nothing more than a new religion for people to embrace. But what is this spell ?
I'm waiting for a more detailed post on this subject !

While science is not just a new religion for people to embrace, the religious or mythological aspect of science, which totalizes "science" to the exclusion of other kinds of knowledge, is very close to what I intend to discuss. However, we have also to ask what is the nature of a religion. It is more than a mere group of beliefs. I intend to show that science, while capable of yielding true knowledge, is nonetheless guided by something of a religious or mystical nature that is probably best characterized as a spell. I will explain in due time.
I agree with you. When I told science is the new religion, it was more about it claiming to detain the only truth and excluding other kinds of knowledge as religion did it for centuries (as you perfectly told, english is not my native language so I can have some troubles making my points perfectly clear).

Well, my interest is piqued.
Belief systems have many names, and science can be guided by any number of prevailing beliefs, just as any other philosophy or traditional thought can be.
I find it also interesting that this came out of becoming an academic. Rejecting what you're taught is less common than fully embracing it, right? I guess I'll wait to see what you have to say about that.
