ADVICE AND CHOICES

Great minds,
There are two major things that every human has power over and are entitled to, talking about Right and Choice. These two things are very crucial and delicate such that if not well managed can lead to our failure and when judicially used in respect to the advice we make good success. While we have right to do certain things and to act in certain ways, it is important to heed to seasoned advice in order to enjoy our right and also be successful. Accordingly, we have the right to choose whatever we want in life, the question remains, what are we choosing? Why are we choosing it? These thoughts led me to today’s idea: ADVICE AND CHOICE.

In this piece, I will be expressing my opinion, thoughts and the available facts as regard to these delicate and important areas of life, with a view to finding a better way to enjoy our right, make good choices for good success.
For easy read and understanding, I will present each of the keywords and thereafter attempt to marry them together to drive the point home.
ADVICE:

This is a suggestion or an opinion about what somebody should do in a particular situation. It is important to note that an advice about a situation can be wrong or right. It is possible someone gives you a wrong advice regard to the situation you are in. this brings me to two important aspects of advice, the source of the advice and the types of the advice. The source of advice is very important, same goes to the type. For us to excel in life and have good success, it is imperative we consider the source and type of advice at our disposal. Talking of advice, it also includes the various information and ideas available to us when faced with a situation.
CHOICE:

It is an act of choosing between two or more possibilities. It is the right of choosing between possibilities. In life we are always faced with options, two or more possibilities. Most times, these options are not the same; they are good or bad; good, better or best. The type of choice you make will either make or mar your success. In making choices, it is important you weigh your options, check the pros and cons of each option.
DISCUSSION
In furtherance to the above, whenever we are in any situation, it is most likely we are presented with two or more possibilities. We have the choice to do well or bad, to come out of a bad condition or to remain and get worse, to win or lose. It may not just end in the opposite, but a better option, to get better or even best. These all depend on which choice we make. To achieve a good choice making, it is therefore expedient we weigh our options. And one way to do that is to listen to advice. Advice presents us with opinion and experience of others perhaps who has been in that situation before. Advice makes available information about the particular situation we are in. It prepares our mind and make us ready for any choice we are about to make. It also makes us responsible for our choices. While it is not compulsory or obligatory that we take a particular advice especially good one, it speaks guidance and responsibility. Like I posed earlier, advice may be good or bad. Having listened to one, it helps to weigh the options, in other ways, advice does not take over your right of choice neither does it take away from you the place of decision, it merely prepares you and guide you to better choice. The onus lies on individual to choose.
God presents us with two options in life as seen in the Bible, Deuteronomy chapter 30 verse 19 (NIV) and I quote " This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live" This is to show that advice is of great value and needed for better choice, hence, God demonstrated it in the above scripture.
It is not surprising though that some people do choose the bad option, evil or even death after a good advice to choose otherwise was given. This is not unconnected with the desire to make riches quick or to be successful overnight and damned the consequences. The result at the end will surely come. In another development, people make choices that they regret later. This also could be either they refuse to heed to advice or they heeded to wrong advice.

On the whole, it is crucial to weigh your options before you make a choice. While you weigh your options by listening to people advice and information available, it is also important to understand that not all advice is the best advice for a case at hand. Therefore, listen to advice, sieve the advice and make good choice. Always remember that the choice you make can make or mar you. More importantly the company you keep will determine the type of advice you get and consequently your choices. If you relate with good people, you will always get good advice and that means good choice and a better you. Bad friend translate to bad advice and bad you.

Finally, the choices we make define to a large extent who we are. Therefore get good advice and good choice.
