Hello Steemit! I'm Jare and I like to play games, watch anime, and write novels.

Hello Steemit!

My name is Jare but you can also call me Ger. I live and work in Manila as a corporate slave specialist
and now I'm finally using Steemit for the first time!

Actually, I've had this account since the start of January but I guess I was too busy playing games, watching anime, and writing novels.

Woah, well will you look at that. Those are literally the three things I do in my life.

Aside from, you know, being a proper social being by hanging out with friends and travelling around the world places.

Hmm, more about myself you ask? *acts as if someone's interested*

I am part of this cool group called Trulaloo and we make (or try to make) funny videos. We haven't officially launched yet (or maybe we have, I'm really an oblivious person) but we've had a couple of shoots and I'm really nervous excited about it! I hope you guys will like it as much as we did.Moving forward, I'm also an avid gamer. I play League of Legends (I main Lulu), TERA (call me old school but I actually enjoy the game), a couple of mobile games (it's the only platform I can use at work... yeah, I play games at work so shh.), Sims 4 (I'm in a phase where I just create characters and log off), and a handful of games I bought/downloaded on Steam (Witcher 3, Civilization 5, Cities Skyline, NSUNS4, Closers, Tree of Savior). I also played Dragon Age: Inquisition on Xbox 360, and almost the entire Pokemon franchise on all Nintendo devices (I was a self-proclaimed Pokemon Master)

Aside from being a house bum, I also watch a lot of anime. Currently, I'm following Boruto, Black Clover, and Noragami. I'd watch more, but I'm afraid I don't have the time (sadly, I can't fit all three hobbies in my weekdays, and my weekends have been full recently). But I've watched almost all the great animes out there (I'm obviously biased) liked Shingeki no Kyujin, Tokyo Ghoul, Kabaneri, FMA and FMAB, Death Note, Mirai Nikki, Fairy Tale, Yuri on Ice, Haikyuu, No Game No Life, Nanatsu no Taizai, One Punch Man, Hataraku Maou-sama, etc.The list will go on and on. Just ask me if I've watched it and there's a 77.89% chance that I'll say yes.

And don't get me started on the mangas I've read.

So what do we know so far? I'm a gamer and an otaku.

You can add author to the list. But am I really? Does writing novels but not being able to finish it count? No? Ok.

That's me as an author in a nutshell: I'm not. Although I'd like to be one someday. Maybe Steemit can be the stepping stone? Only Steemit knows.

Alright, I think that's most of my hobbies. I'll just talk about the others next time. For now, I'm really excited to be part of this huge community (shout out to my friends who're on here, thanks for dragging me along)! I am quite aware of how this works, since I'm also a Bitcoiner (is that a legit term?) but I always enjoy a good, healthy discussion about it. Moreover, I'd most definitely enjoy having gamer friends on here who'll not exactly play the same games as I, but also introduce me to more games I've never heard of (I'm really into MMORPGs these days but they're slowly dying T.T)

Cheers!

Welcome Jare.

Welcome to Steemit! It's got a steep learning curve, but it's worth it in the long run if you keep putting in the time! Just know that it will take quite a while before you start getting attention and followers. The secret to success? Keep posting high quality content regularly, and make sure to search out other people's posts, read them, and give relevant comments.

Tagging is extremely important. Always make sure to use all five possible tags, and to keep them relevant. You can always just tag something "blog" or "photography" or something else really general (so long as it's still relevant) to fill the quota if you need to- most of your tags should be established ones, though one or two less used ones are fine.

Posting more than four times a day can reduce your potential rewards, as well as turning off potential users. (I aim for one post per day most of the time.) Consistency is important, though, so you should try to post often.

Always make sure to attach a photo to your posts! You should also have a finished profile: Write a description, add a profile picture and a banner- neither needs to be of you, necessarily, but you should have something- and set a website.

There are a lot of really good resources out there for minnows (new users). You should check out the following groups and services, they offer a lot of valuable resources to new users:

@thesteemengine (Check this one out first- they're an extremely supportive group.)
@qurator (These guys offer an excellent liftime upvote to accounts that post consistent quality content.)
@originalworks (Whenever you write an original post, tag this account- they'll verify it's original and upvote you.)
@steembasicincome (Another lifetime upvote option.)
@steemstem (The biggest and best STEM curation group in the game. If you're interested in writing or reading about science, check these guys out!)
@geopolis (A fairly new science curation group, this one's dedicated to the study of the Earth.)
@ocd (A curation group that seeks out undervalued new writers.)

And, again, the biggest thing is just patience. Breakout successes are incredibly rare on Steemit- you've got to find your way there through perseverance and hard work. It takes time, but you'll eventually succeed if you put in the work.

Please feel free to repost this guide on the posts of other minnows you run into!
