Esports, Cryptocurrencies and Video Games. I'm PixelDust.

Hello Steemit.

I go by PixelDust on the internet, and I figured I could have my first post here be an introduction one. I am an avid esports and cryptocurrency enthusiast from Finland, and although I have had my account here for a while now, I never made a post. Until now.

My background is mostly in esports. I began working in the industry back in March of 2015, which was when I started working voluntarily in the ESL, one of the biggest gaming organizations in the world. How I ended up in the ESL ties in well with how I started being more involved in the crypto world.

I started writing about Bitcoin as a freelancer in 2014, and continued writing about it and subjects surrounding it for a little under a year. After concluding my “career” as a writer in the crypto world, I started looking for other freelance opportunities, and stumbled upon a post on the Electronic Sports League forums about a need for a freelance writer for the Hearthstone tournament section of the site. I applied immediately.

From there on out I started being incredibly active in the esports scene as a whole, mostly in Blizzard’s games. Instead of writing about Hearthstone like I was supposed to, I quickly transitioned into the role of a referee, and before I knew it, I would already be working at my very first international esports event as well as one of the biggest gaming events in the world; the IEM Katowice 2016.

Today I’m happy to be able to say that I’ve been lucky enough to have been a part of a total of 10 esports events all around Europe, my most recent one being the Heroes Global Championship Western Clash in Kiev, Ukraine, in 2017. I absolutely love working in esports, especially in events, and hope to keep being an active part of the “scene” for years to come.

Although I stopped writing about Bitcoin, after concluding my freelance writing career I kept following the news of the cryptocurrency world, and actively follow launches of new altcoins as well, in addition to holding various alts myself. I’m very happy to be a part of Steemit, and I’m looking forward to becoming more active on this site.

Thank you for reading.

Hearthstone eyyy, I liked played that for a little while. Welcome to Steemit! Glad you decided to make a post! I bet esports is a great thing to work in, look forward to more posts. Followed! You do any league of legends stuff? That's my game

Appreciate it mate! I actually work actively with Blizzard's equivalent of League, that being Heroes of the Storm. Most of the tournaments and events I've worked in have been with that game. Esports is amazing and in my case very rewarding to work with, given how I have been able to travel around Europe and meet a bunch of new people because of it.

Sounds really cool. I thought about giving heroes of the storm a try and heard the community is a better then league.

No community is perfect, though I suppose the community of HotS is more welcoming towards new players. Also the game itself is easy to pick up if you've ever played a moba game before.

There are not so many people who are interested in eSports (I'm one of them). It would be great to create a community of e-sports fans. Welcome

Congratulations @pixeldust, you have decided to take the next big step with your first post! The Steem Network Team wishes you a great time among this awesome community.
