I think it can be for a new tool also.
As long as they tell us about themselves as well. Many have created posts that say "Hi my name is xxx and I created xxx".
The idea is to be able to find relevent content. When most users visit the introduceyourself tag they are wanting to see who users are. Not see a page full of products with no information about the user as an individual. This is becoming a problem with popular tags.
Other users won't leave a comment, they'll just flag. I'd rather give some advice before that happens, especially to new users.
I tried to remove the tag, but it seems like once it is posted, it cannot be removed. I just taught it was the most obvious place to promote a new service, I didn't want to make it hard for user. I will be more thoughtful on my next choice of tags.
