I've been dreemin' about Steemit.
I've waited for a decentralized social network that rewards quality content creators. I've longed for a service that doesnt unfairly reward promoted material higher than that of content the entire community values.
Is STEEMIT the solution? Well its certainly a great step in the right direction. Sure, someone could pay a few thousand bucks to make sure their post is at the top of the page that day. My hope is that valued content will make up the majority of the top posts.
A little about myself
I'm a programmer. I learned Golang when I discovered Ethereum's geth was built on it. I am learning Clojurescript to build front-end apps for ethereum projects. I've been obsessed with the endless ways to apply blockchains to the real world for a few years now.
I'm a musician. I play sing and play keys. I've played didgeridoo for 18 years now. I played it at Symphony Hall twice! I record synth music.
I once put together an electronic music compilation so artists could get tipped in cryptocurrency.
I'm a pedicabber. I own a tricycle with a couch on it. Its a licensed pedicab in Boston, and I'll give you a pedicab ride for Bitcoin or Ethereum. I talk crypto with passengers whenever I get the chance. Introducing people to Ethereum, explaining how bitcoin is a great platform for innovation.
Now I'm thinking Steemit could bring a whole new level of promotion for me -- the kind that pays me for my efforts.
Would advertising Steemit on my Pedicab get me paid?
Here's my idea: I print out some nice big STEEMIT graphics on vinyl, and apply them to the outside of my pedicab. I could bring my pedicab to a different place each time: MIT, Harvard, Kendall Square (tech startup hub in Cambridge), Fort Point (tech startup hub in Seaport / S. Boston). I would give FREE RIDES to tell people about Steemit, and shoot video of the interaction, and how they respond to the Steemit idea. Then post the videos on Steemit!
I want to know from the community here: Could this Steemit Pedicab make a good series of videos? Should I do this? I could have the vinyl printed by next week.
Steemit is a great idea and this is my best idea on how to participate. I would love some feedback!
Glad to have you around!
