Coming in from Southern Africa and happy to introduce myself
I come from Swaziland and have learnt that doing things or participating out of love and adding value in any platform is the best approach one can ever take. Experience has taken me across many online platforms that have really impressing testimonials on how people have made thousands or even millions of dollars online. These are the likes of Adsense, clickbank, ebay, amazone, etc. and hardly anything of that sort worked for me. That is where the lesson on doing things out of love comes from.
I'm a blogger, an artist and a writer. I 'm here at steemit to share lessons I personally learnt and learn from others on what keeps them afloat in trying situations. My formula is being genuine, simple and polite. I'm not ashamed of my African culture which I enjoy discussing as well as my Christian beliefs which often come out as I interact on social media and elsewhere.
Steemit to me shall be one of my online business ventures. My blogging skills will be tested and that is what gets me excited. It surely is the time to put to good use the 11 years experience of active internet participation to test. I'm ready for anything and cannot ignore the fact that I need you individually and the community at large to make it.

Here a few tips for starters snce you probably won't get any advice from those who comment under here, here's what I gathered thus far.
It's tough to make money at first so if that's your main cause to be on here grind that into your head straight away, that doesn't mean you shouldn't post content, you should, but enganging with others in the comment sections to grow your following is your best bet. Which categories?
Probably the introduce yourself one and the photography section but you can choose things that you have knowledge about too and then go from there just know that there is a lot of crap on here so plowing through that just to connect with others can be tough. Cheers.
