When work meets life. (PARADISE IN THE NORTH, PHILIPPINES) "JOMALIG ISLAND"
We went there last April, 2017 as part of my work on local government under community empowerment project. It is one of the isolated island in the Philippines somewhere in north Luzon. You can get to the port in Quezon Province by 6-7 hours if you are from Manila and then 4-5 by hours again via "Roro" or boat. If you can imagine it is kinda long travel and too far that's why it is considered as virgin and also it is not yet almost discovered by most of the traveler.
So beautiful. And so peaceful. There was only a few of us on the island. From the harbor "daungan ng bangka" you really can tell that your long travel will be over worth it!. Fine golden pink sand and clear water. I live near the province but I didn't know that there will this kind of paradise.
And because the travel was part of my work, at first I do work before going to island tours and beach swimming. lol. We stayed there for a week. I really was surprised how genuine and friendly the locals were, they live a very simple life like a typical native Filipino. The houses are made up of "nippa hut". Few houses are made up of stone. Only motorbikes can drive through the island because the road were just meter wide or less.
And thereeeee, of course when you travel one of the factor you will consider trying are the...foooooood. Sea food there are really delicious. All the fish that was serve to us tasted like it was not an ordinary food. Even the Galung-Gong (GG) tasted like Lapu-Lapu. lol (exagerated but I sweaaar man you're gonna like it ㋡). Because we went there for work, we are free from eating food that we like but I heard that it is cheaper because that place are rich in sea foods. All of the food there, this is one the best among all those see foods. The loooooooobsters!. Oh man, I swear you're not gonna forget the taste of freshness. And the price is way cheaper. I think lobsters price in the city is like 700.00 - 1k per kilo. In the island you can buy them for 1,500 per one container. Way cheaper right?.
There there, after working and after all of our tasks was done, our time for siesta and island tour has began. ㋡ The island is only 21.87 sq mi so you can get through all the places in just one day. It was so beautiful! I don't how to put it into words but it is more than you can imagine. All the hassle on our work was worth it. Actually I forgot everything about work that time. lol. Every island looks so clean and relaxing. locals there named the islands like "little boracay", "little batanes" because the place really look a like. And then one of the cool thing there was, there's a pine trees everywhere!. Locales share the stories to us that previously there where migrating birds that brought those pine tree seeds or leaves and then eventually grew all over the places. And it looks just so wonderful.
There now you can imagine how beautiful the place is. Another one is because the place is in far way north. There's a place where you can wait for the sunset. So lovely. Here it is.
And there you go, It really made me happy to share my experience on the island, how peaceful and beautiful it was. I know there are lot of places that are undiscovered here in the country. Let's just hope that we can cherish and maintain the places. Happy reading Steemians!!! PARADISE IN THE NORTH: JOMALIG, QUEZON PHILIPPINES ㋡
