Introducing myself ...

Greetings, steemians!

My name is Kate and I am incredibly passionate about felines, fitness, phenomenology, philosophy and food science!

I am an IFBB Professional Bikini athlete and I live a slightly extreme fitness lifestyle with my husband and our cat, Desmond. Desmond rules all, seen and unseen.

I've always been drawn to academics, music and athletics. I played soccer and then lacrosse in my collegiate career. Following a total groin tear, I repurposed my physical endeavors toward learning and ultimately, teaching yoga. The real catch for me, though, began as a medical necessity. I've had celiacs disease, IBS, ulcerative colitis, reflux and over 40 food allergies for the past 15-20 years. There was a point during college where each of my 12 bodily systems shut down, leaving me very confused and a bit resentful of my more "normal" classmates, who were able to drink beer and eat pizza to no end. After a series of literal and figurative tumbles and failures, I chose to take full accountability and began to reprogram each system in my body from the ground up. Ontologically, this was far before health or fitness was fashionable. Facebook had only just arrived on the planet. Social media was not yet a thing, doctors lacked prescient information, and the "Atkins diet" was the closest thing to anyone having heard of gluten (not even the same sport, let alone the same ballpark). Now, things are much different. Almost every restaurant offers allergen-friendly menus and gluten-free dishes, as well as a positive attitude to accommodate for the special needs of customers. Thank goodness.

Driven to be in charge of my health, and be not a victim, I was asked to live off campus for the remainder of my undergraduate studies, as the university couldn't afford to be liable for my food preparation. This allowed me to learn to cook every meal from scratch, and to experiment by creating gluten free recipes with hard-to-pronounce ingredients....

Fast forward 12 years, I've taken my various restrictions in stride and created a livelihood as a professional bikini athlete, a blogger, and a consultant, to help others live their healthiest lives. I am so grateful, for each of these "restrictions" indeed function as a special blessing. Now, with the advent of the cryptoeconomy, it will be easier than ever to reach those in need of natural, health solutions, as wealth begins to circulate around the globe in new ways.

My goal with this space is to provide fitness, nutrition and lifestyle information so that everyone may access best and healthiest life for free. I believe being fit should be free for everyone, for all beings. Fitness has become another animal entirely on other social platforms ... and while there is no judgment of that here, I would love this space to be focused on more "steak" and less "sizzle." I invite the opportunity to keep this as a sacred space in which this community can share knowledge, perspective and health. I also look to steemit to educate myself further in many areas, especially digital currencies and blockchain technology. I believe in giving back to one's community, immensely.

My page will be dedicated to provocations within the overlapping realms of health, philosophy, phenomenology, psychology, fitness, nutrition and our dear feline. I believe there are many ways to do anything, and I invite the possibility to explore different routes to best life on this social medium. If a thing, a food, a person or an idea contributes to and enhances the ability of one (or many) to lead best life, then I am interested in learning more. I hope that, together, we can continue to spread health, as the standard wealth, in concert with knowledge of each new possibility present within the digital economy, as the newest addition to the world of infinite wealth.

Anything is possible and abundance is infinite.

Below, you will find a video I made of a simple kettle bell deadlift, performed at my home gym, the one and only Gold's Gym, in Venice, California. I completed 4 rounds of 25-30 repetitions in between straight arm lat pulldowns. I like to do a few lower body exercises everyday (I train lower body every other day) and I often superset them with my upper body training for increased fat loss and calorie expenditure.
