Embracing and contributing to the sharing economy, I am 100% in and starting a new venture here, now!
Who I am and what I do
My name is Scott Kintz and I live in Edmonds WA USA, I am married and I am currently living the dream.
I own a web/software development company and we build SaaS applications. I am also my own customer with another small company that I am a co-founder of.
We make touch typing education software that we sell to schools in the US and world wide. We service the K – 12 grade range and have schools all over the nation and internationally that use our program.
I am so lucky because I do not have to endure the Seattle or Redmond commute. I am a 40 minute walk to work or 6 minute drive.
Work is like a vacation every day. This is my lifestyle employment.
BTW my office overlooks the beach in Edmonds, WA. ( The best place on earth) At least i think so.
I heard about Steem and got really excited because I have been dreaming of how to use blockchain in my next business venture and in my personal life. Now i found exactly what I have been looking for. At least i hope it is the start of a new chapter in how we use this technology.
I am the type of person that I am either all in or not paying attention.
With Steemit and this community I think that I am all in.
The Sharing Community and why I want to be a part of it!
So my wife and I are trying to become more of the sharing economy. We really think that is going to be the future, or at least our future. We tend to be early adopters of technology and jump in with both feet and then evaluate if we were making the right decision. For example..
I own a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I rented it to a stranger for the second time in a month. I wanted to learn more about how this type of peer-to-peer rental function is being done. Upon studying this further I now want to take what resources I have with my development company and contribute to building upon the Steem platform.
Goals and Dreams
My goal is that I will build (or contribute to building) a cool way to allow small to large personal items to be part of the sharing, peer-to-peer renting/swapping or trading community. I am jumping in and learning the process by renting out my jeep though some other services.
I was first attracted to renting my jeep for the ability to offset my payment a little and it gives me an opportunity to learn more about the pros and cons of participating in the sharing economy. Converting what is typically a liability into an asset is the goal or this experiment.
Why I like the sharing economy
After I cleaned, detailed and accepted a booking for the rental of the jeep; What I was able to share was the ability of another person to use my stuff. I gained an appreciation of the stuff that i have accumulated, I take pride when cleaning it so someone else can enjoy this thing that i own. I also get a small to reasonable compensation for sharing. I think this process could be much improved, secured using block-chain technology for user verification, confirmation and payment brooking. Tying this into the community and automating most of the process would mean lower fees for everyone involved.
I have a dream of a community where transparency and honesty are rewarded and encouraged.
I look forward to engaging with and helping this community to thrive.

Are you growing any tomatoes. Im trying to grow some; any tips?
Ha yes we have several tomatoes growing. We started them from seed this year and have them in large pots.
We are not great farmers but we are getting some that are starting to become ripe. Most of our garden is in the shade so sun for your tomatoes is important. Good soil, keep them watered. We put in an auto drip system just a cheap water timer and a auto drip system works good. But if you want indoor tomatoes then getting an Aero Grow from Amazon or Costco sometimes carries them. Then you can get an early start and we did have one that grew to 3 ft tall in the hydroponic last year. I will make a post on our garden soon.
thanks for the vote.

Welcome to Steem Scott! I love Washington state, spent 4 years up there at you dub ;-)
Ah I love your concept of sharing economy, I would like to hire a room in your home when I visit Edmonds :),
Though this concept seems fantastic and my be workable in your society where transparency and honesty is at large, but I could not think of such concept over here Scott, I can not trust some one over here to let him use my car, I always fear that he may not use it in some illegal act and eventually at the end I will be book for that.
Few days back I read a news about a person who’s vehicle was used in a bomb blast, police booked him and torture him a lot but at then end it was revealed that his vehicle was stolen few days back but he did not manage to report it.
Any way best of luck for your dreams
