Introducing The Far South Coast Of New South Wales, Australia, And Me
What would you rather?
- Mundane suburban life in the rapidly developing western fringe of Melbourne - supposedly, one of most liveable cities in the world.
- Or, pristine coast, abundant native Australian wildlife, and sparsely populated areas of natural beauty.
Either option is not to be sniffed at, but I'm pleased to say that I've recently opted out of city life, made the tree change/sea change, and I'm now enjoying the latter option mentioned above.

My quest to live more of an organic lifestyle and renounce the evils of city life, has led several hours drive, between the cities of Melbourne and Sydney, to a magnificent part of Australia called 'The Sapphire Coast'.
A region with a land size that would have it ranked between Cyprus and Brunei, if it were a country on the Wikipedia list of countries by area, and that can be found in the south eastern corner of Australia, adjacent to the Pacific Ocean.
The View From Home
Westward from the coast, is mostly rugged, hilly, forested terrain, with pockets of pastureland and fertile farmland in the valleys. The area is renowned in Australia, for it's fresh produce, fishing and dairy industries.
Dotted along the coast are several attractive towns, that are relatively popular tourist destinations in the holiday periods (for places this remote), but peaceful during the rest of the year.

It's currently winter here, but it's not like any winter I've ever experienced. Compared to Melbourne, the skies are clear blue and sunny far more often, the days are warmer, the landscape is greener, it's less windy, and it's far prettier. Compared to the UK, where I'm originally from, well, I reckon the average Brit might go as far as calling it paradise, after a brief look around.
As I'm not a skilled photographer, I feel that I should add that no photos/videos shown in this post have been improved or doctored - all are as they were taken just using my iPhone. Much of the scenery here truly needs no improvement.
I wish the same could be said for my photography and writing skills! 😉
A Clapping Kangaroo
Humpback whales, bottlenose dolphins, kangaroos, wallabies, and parrots, are just some of creatures witnessed on recent travels. It seems like every time an exploration mission is undertaken, something extraordinary is seen. What a privilege it is to call this region home!
About Me
I don't believe in talking too much about myself... There's far more interesting subjects to discuss, such as:
- Stuff I'm learning
- Stuff I've learned
- Stuff I know little about
- Stuff I've been thinking about
Check out the people I follow for an idea of my wide ranging interests... And if this post has you yawning, check out my one and only previous Steemit post - it's a little unusual in comparison to this one... Worth a quick read if you want to gain a little insight into my strange mind.

Steem on!
That kangaroo has some good camo. I had to look twice to find it. Good post!
Thanks. Actually, it might be a wallaby... Clapping kangaroo sounds better than a clapping wallaby, though.
Beautiful country!. I have always wanted to visit Australia because of it's natural beauty and unique animals. Glad you are enjoying a more peaceful life in the country side vs the city life.
