Here I am! Introduction! Marketing the Blockchain: Discovering New Roles, Strategies, and Tactics for Marketing in the Blockchain/Cryptocurrency Industry.
HIYA!
Hello my lovely Steemians! My name is Zamara Bennett and I cannot express how excited I am to be a part of this community. I’m 22 years old and I’ve been living in Tacoma Washington for my entire life. My life experience has been one of many extreme events and perspectives, and I don’t think I would change it if I could.
A LITTLE BACKGROUND...
I have always been ‘technologically gifted’, a large part of that I owe to having amazing parents who were so proud to buy our first computer in 2000 when I was 5 years old. It wasn’t until much later in life that I really understood the full power of computing and the abstract emergence of the internet. But, having access to a computer and building basic computing skills from such an early age has really given me an advantage in the IT and CIS arena. While I don’t have a degree, I did spend a year at Tacoma Community College studying Computer Information Systems and Information Systems Security in 2015 when my studies were abruptly interrupted: A life-changing incident catalyzed a major transformation in my consciousness. This transformation became a journey, which has led me to a path I would have never dreamed possible for my life if I weren’t living it. I’ve been fortunate enough to have very supportive, understanding, and loving parents that encourage my ideas and believe in my dreams. Over the last two years I have explored and studied my spirituality, (learning the kabbalah and to read the tarot among many other systems and teachings of metaphysical and occult esoterica) I also began to study marketing and branding management heavily and both topics have become passions of mine.
MARKETING THE BLOCKCHAIN
I gained an interest in the blockchain industry back in June through an ARG which rewarded users for completing puzzles and performing real life actions. After earning my first few coins, I sought out the development team behind the cryptocurrency, and noticed on their website that they were seeking help for marketing and branding identity. I immediately dove deep into the cryptocurrency/blockchain industry to understand every aspect of the market. To make a long story short, things ended up not working out with that organization and I was forced to resign and discontinue any future work with them. That day I accepted a hard truth, that most blockchain organizations or cryptocurrency collectives have no interest in the future of the industry, the potential benefit to society, and very few care about actually providing a valuable service to their customers. I will save the details for my future posts, but I find it truly heartbreaking to see how perverted the blockchain industry has become. Counter to everything blockchain represents for humanity on an economic, political, and societal level on a global scale, the modern cryptocurrency or blockchain organization has truly failed to achieve the vision behind the technology making our industry possible.
WHY STEEMIT
Since leaving my last cryptocurrency project behind, I have decided to venture out into the wonderful world of blockchain and cryptocurrency on my own. This has been a very serious commitment for me, and I am dedicated to seeing the blockchain industry achieve its highest ideals and to grow at it’s fullest potential. I plan on using my steemit account to define and share my ideas with the hopes of expanding upon them by building connections with like-minded people within the Steemit community. I will specifically focus on:
- Current industry trends, issues, threats, and opportunities
- Developing a full picture of the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry environment (political, societal, economic, and technological)
- Exploring the new roles emerging within the marketing industry through blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies
- Discovering ways to facilitate communal participation and engagement and using dialectic approach to increase awareness and develop a platform for educating the public about the blockchain/cryptocurrency industry and its environment.
I am still early in, but I have a passion for this industry and I 100% believe that we can use blockchain and cryptocurrency to make the world a better place full of free, empowered people and voluntary communities.
I am so excited to get my feet wet and engage in conversations with others in the steemit community, what are some of your beliefs, ideas, issues, etc. in regards to the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry and community?
Hi @meowyinator welcome to steemit and thanks for sharing your story with us. I just moved to the seattle area and also looking for a crypto community here.
Awesome! Thank you! what part of Seattle? I'd love to meet and chat about the industry.
Is there any way we can better communicate and possibly look into meeting up I'd love to chat with someone in person from Steemit lol!
Welcome new steemian!
Thanks so much!
Welcome to Steemit. Above you wrote "A life-changing incident catalyzed a major transformation in my consciousness." What was that incident if you're willing to share it please?
There are a ton of other webpages to help you with Steemit. Here are some of the best for beginners:
https://steemd.com/ (This site is used to keep track of your voting power and other stats. You do not want to run out of voting power, and you only get so much per day. I keep my voting power around 80% for example.)
https://steem.makerwannabe.com/ (This site will tell you who follows you, who unfollows you, and who mutes you. It is great for meeting new people too. I regularly check it to see who has followed me to see if I should follow them back.)
https://steemit.chat/ (This site is the official chat webpage for Steemit. There are Discord channels too, but I usually stick to the official site. Come in to network and meet new friends. You can directly message people there too, so it makes it easier to communicate with your closest friends.)
Oh yeah, there are a lot of bots on here. If you see a cookie cutter reply, especially to your intro post, it is almost certainly a bot. Check the account's reputation. If it is low, I would recommend just ignoring them. Everything is public on Steemit, so you can go look at an account's comments and replies. Are they all the same? It's a bot.
Adding photos to your account as a new Steemian may be confusing at first too. The easiest way it to click to "Submit a Story." Once in there, use the built in Steemit tool to upload an image from your computer. Below the posting window, you will see "Insert images by dragging & dropping, pasting from the clipboard, or by selecting them." Click on the blue text. Once the image is uploaded, you can copy and paste the link into your account settings.
Verifying your identity is very important because it will get you more support and people will trust you more. The best way to verify is to link back to your Steemit account by using another public social media account. For example, I posted my Steemit articles from here through my Twitter account. Another person posted their Steemit information on their Facebook account. Some people will even post a video of themselves writing out their account information since that cannot be Photoshopped. The more famous a person is or the more valuable their content is, the more important it is that they verify. If a new account falls within those two categories and fails to verify, it may get blacklisted.
Again, welcome, and I've followed you! If you have any questions about getting started, look me up on the chat site.
Thank you for sharing resources! I actually am working on my next post to explain the incident which occured. I was involved in a random drive by shooting on the freeway and shot twice. It is very interesting how it all ended up connecting in the end. Again, thank you so much for the resources I'll be sure to check them out and to follow you back!
Ouch! I'm glad you survived to share your story.

Nice to meet you as well! Thank you for welcoming me :)
Welcome to Steemit and keep sharing those thoughts - it's not as bleak as it seems in the blockchain industry - there is a lot of positivity around! All the best!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for reading my post. I am doing my best to stay positive and I will continue to do so!
Welcome to Steem @meowzinator I have upvoted and sent you a tip
Your message was very sweet! I value your input so much. I was really worried about my introductory post and your kind words made me grin. I followed you and I will check out your posts soon, promise! <3
Truly wonderful post. It is evident that you are going to have a huge impact in the future of this planet. Thanks so much for sharing about your experiences in blockchain technologies. Every group has its own cultural mindset that seems to evolve into something very positive or maybe it just grows like bacteria in a petrie dish.
Thank you so much, it really means a lot to me that you see the value in what I am trying to do. I agree about what you said regarding groups and cultural mindsets, they evolve seemingly random much like bacteria in a petrie dish! I also think we have the power to correct our groups and steer them in the right direction when things go off course! Thank you for replying and reading. Can't wait to share more of my ideas!
