We Are Manna-The First Global Basic Income Cryptocurrency
This is our introduction post.
We are happy to be a part of the STEEM community.
Mannacurrency is a cryptocurrency that was created to be given to anyone as a basic income. Our vision is a world without poverty. The present monetary system makes it impossible for people to get out of the poverty cycles that they find themselves in. Generational poverty is a tragic problem throughout the world.
Manna was originally named Grantcoin. For a little over a year, 3,000 people took part in our trial of income distribution. Over that time, we were able to verify the feasibility of such an idea along with some problem areas that needed to be ironed out.
This trial ended in August 2017. For the next 4 months, our systems were upgraded and redesigned to be automated while enabling us to scale up. We opened up the sign up process in December with the verification process implemented in February.
On March 1st, we had our first distribution under the Manna banner. There were over 10,000 people who received tokens on that date. Since that time, we have grown to over 40,000 verified users who are getting payment each week. Tomorrow, April 12th, will be our 6 distribution. Each payout is weekly.
We seek to reduce, if not eliminate, global poverty. While many are supporters of basic income, a challenge develops of how to pay for it. Governments are already operating in a deficit and the populous is taxed to the hilt. Therefore, going through those entities, if even possible, would take years. Plus, we are not sure dependence upon governmental entities is a good thing for people. To many things can change which would end up harming them.
Our belief is a cryptocurrency designed to serve as a basic income is the ideal solution. It avoids any conflict or debate about how to pay for the basic income. At the same time, it removes any central governmental organization having control over the currency.
This is why we believe we are "The People's Currency".

We also believe in giving to others and will have entities where you can donate your tokens if you so desire. We are working on getting on other exchanges. It is too early to tell if we are going to be on @blocktrades but the realization that we need more ways for people to convert to and from Manna exists. It is crucial that people be able to move in and out of the currency.
A great part of that happening is the popularity of the currency. With a little over 40,000 wallets being used, the desire for exchanges to jump all over Manna is minimal. We envision that desire growing as we have more people signing up and receiving the currency.
