5 THINGS EVERY NEWBIE ON STEEMIT MUST KNOW

As a newbie, you have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.I have done a lot of research in order to succeed on steemit. On my research Journey, I found out that some people create great content and yet still have some few cents while others just post only pictures of themselves or their pets and yet make thousands of Dollars within 30 minutess. sometimes newbie like us feels like missing the boat and would want to give up. But hold on! We too must get a piece of the pie. Well this is what I have found from my own little research and it is worth sharing and I think it could be of help to newbies like myself and also to some experts.As the famous cliche goes the best way to learn is to teach.
1.DONT FORGET TO SECURE YOUR ACCOUNT
After signing up steemit gives you a long string of gibberish which is your master password. This is long in order to provide maximum security.After signing up you should keep this key somewhere safe or write it on a paper and lock it up somewhere.Don't log in with the master password but rather log in with your posting private key.See this post for more info about the different types of keys used on steemit https://steemit.com/steemit-guides/@jerrybanfield/the-steemit-account-security-tutorial-june-2017.
If you lose your password or account or owner key , there is no way you can recover it. Unlike Facebook and other (controlled)social sites where you can recover your account , steemit is a decentralized platform thus not controlled by anybody, therefore, making it hard to recover your account when you lose your master password.
2.YOU SHOULD BE FAMILIAR WITH WORDS LIKE MINNOW, DOLPHINS AND WHALES
MINNOWS- newbies like you and I are called minnows and we have very little influence on this steemit community.The vote of a minnow is worth very less. So it is like one whale's vote is equal to 100 or more minnow's vote.
DOLPHINS-are the would-be Whales and have invested their money into the steemit platform.Their upvote is powerful and can give you 10 to 15 cents.
WHALES -These are the kingpins on this platform.If you want your content to be on the trending or hotlist then you need these guys by your side.Their upvote is the most powerful on this platform.
So what we can learn from this is to invest in steemit and get some form of power to swim together with the dolphins,whales and make some more Dollars.

1.STEEM-is a common cryptocurrency you can buy and sell on the various exchanges.They are traded just like bitcoins.And also you can transfer them without fees.steem is very diluted so don't hold for too long.About 800 coins are generated every minute.
2.STEEN POWER-if you want to get ownership in the network and get a piece of the pie then you need to get steem power.Also anytime you are paid for your content ,half of your money is in steem power.having steem power gives you a stronger upvote and you can become a dolphin and whale.
3.STEEM DOLLARS- when you are paid for your content half of your pay is in steem-dollars which is very stable and the final form of the currency.This is the currency you can sell and use at anytime.But you get 10% interest if you keep holding your steem Dollars.
4.USE AN UPVOTE BOT
In order to make your content get more boost and also get recognized by the whales and dolphins you need to use upvote bot to also make more dollars.This is the major way people are using to make thousand bucks on steemit.This is simply done by transferring SBD from your account to the bot, telling it what link to upvote and within a minute you will have an upvote and a comment.Here is the link for upvote bots(https://steembottracker.com/).You can choose the bot you like and you get your boost.

More importantly you should always comment and upvote others content.
5.DO'S AND DON'TS
Don't plagiarize other people's content. Plagiarizing others content will ruin your reputation on steemit. Every new user starts off with a reputation score of 25.It is an indicator that shows how "trusted or appreciated by the community" you are.It is a tool that prevent user with low reputation to harm other users.It is the number written beside your name.

You must always make sure you properly reference the sources where you got your materials from. If you are using an image that is not your own, make sure you are allowed to use the image, and cite the source of the image.
Police arrest us for breaking the laws, steemit also has its own police called Steemcleaners and @cheetah. These are group of steemians who checks plagiarism , copy and paste,spams and any form of abuse on steemit. If you haven't read the steemit FAQ you should do it right now.
