Hello Steemit! I'm Nicholas Zastrow | maker, designer, figure-outer

Thank you for having me Steemit! If you want to take a minute to read about me and why I'd like you to follow me...that would be rad!

Since I was young I've never really figured out what I want to be. I started college with an Ecology degree, then switched to Journalism before finally finishing with an Advertising degree. I've worked in kitchens, an arcade, biology laboratory, building maintenance, copy shops, public relations firm, large-format sign shop, screenprinting shop and my most recent job is building prototype electric mopeds. Well, it is at least my job for another month. We lost funding and I might be out of my dream job (hoping it doesn't go that way), and I'll be back to the freelance graphic designer/web developer hustle.

But, all of those different jobs and education have given me a huge variety of knowledge that I like to work into anything I do. And it finally led me to what I really want to do, just make cool shit.

Almost all of those jobs listed above have been due to a lot of self-learning. I'm constantly trying to learn something new. Since completing my degree in Advertising in 2007, which was pretty expensive and useless (and I think I only did it to make my parents happy), I've taught myself 3D modeling, 3D printing, CAD/CAM, woodworking, laser cutting, machining, welding. Now I'm digging on electronics and arduinos.

So anyway, are you bored yet? Hopefully you are still here, because I'd like to invite you come and learn with me. Along the way I'll be creating things I’m good at, or things I’d like to improve. But I'll always try to post something interesting or useful.
