I am Knight
My real name is Arnold Miranda. And I am a Mexican-American 18 year old living in the twin cities. I currently go to high school as a senior. Though I may be young that's an advantage. I live my life according to the groundhog day philosophy: make the best of each day by learning, being genuine, and being kind. Chessy, I know
One thing about me is that I love to learn. I'm taking Japanese classes online along with programing. I go to school to attend three classes, currently english, art of film, and creative writing. That's not to say I love school, in fact I quite hate it. Not to be the stereotypical school hater but I hate being around large groups of people. Call it being shy, socially anxious, or claustrophobic. It's quite weird since I love to get to know people, to learn what makes them tick.
This past year I’ve been trying to Improve who I am My goals are
- Become more disciplined
- Be more outgoing
- & get more confidence
My interest include playing video games, watching movies, reading, playing guitar, listening to music and practicing martial arts. Art being the key word here. I love to get lost in another world; escapism. But it seems that each world always seems to have a lesson to give. A lesson that I take to heart every chance I get. The potential for storytelling to create a deep resonating feeling is amazing. I love it. Infact I love it so much that I am learning to program in order to hopefully one day create a game where all the elements come together to create something people will love, something that resonates deeply with who we all are.
Great films tell an amazing story that captures your mind not just for an hour or two, but for days. I’ve had many films that delivered stories that made me contemplate my own way of thinking.
Groundhogs day is a great example. Phil stayed in the same day for years becoming insane and suicidal. And after hitting rock bottom he decides to change. He starts to learn any and everything, and becomes more kind and genuine. Its towards the end, when Phil tries to save the homeless man, that it hit me how much Phil has changed and how much I want to be like this Phil.
I spent too much time playing video games, I will admit. However, through the endless hours wasted on civ 5, I have played games that are fucking amazing.
Mass effect has one the best soundtracks and stories out there and by the end I couldn’t let go of the cast of characters that I had grown to love. Its story ended a bit bitter but it nonetheless affected me greatly. Specifically, Mordin the Salarian scientist. His redemption was one heartbreaking moment. It had to be him.
Music likewise has had a great impact on my life. I started with the beatles and have since grown to have a massive library with genres ranging from classical to hardcore metal.
Music changes your mood almost instantly, each writer can be poetic. I love when the artist gets ‘real’ when they speak and sing about their personal challenges.
Check out Eden’s Rock and Roll, and Sam Brooks.
All this talk about trying to become better, why?
I grew up in a poor neighborhood with a poor family, I still am. And I want to learn how to be successful, In order to get my family out of the rag. I’ve had many personal challenged that always make me think that I will fail to achieve this dream. However I have made progress and believe that bit by bit I will reach my goal.
