To my fellow Steemians:
Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm a middle-aged guy who has spent most of my adult life chasing brass rings and trying to build a comfortable life myself and my family. In the past several years (after our 2 kids graduated high school), my wife and I decided it was time for change. Not just a change of neighbourhood, but a change in living!
Several years ago we sold our house in a larger community (120,000+ people) and moved to a rural community with 245 mailboxes, 1 store/gas station/post office and proceeded to build a small hobby farm on an old offgrid homestead of 135 acres of mostly woodlot on the shores of a small lake. It's been harder and more rewarding than we ever could have imagined.
We don't have TV and we don't have cell service, we don't have a house (yet), and we don't have a mortgage. We live in a 24' x 32' garage with our 3 dogs, 1 cat and our nearest neighbour is about 1 km away. We have internet access via satellite, a good well, a large outdoor wood furnace for heat, lots of firewood, a great garden, fresh eggs everyday, and lots of fresh clean air (when there's no forest fires)...
The reason I joined Steemit was to see if I could find an online community of like-minded people for an exchange of experience and ideas, to learn more about cryptocurrencies and because it appears to be more than just another social media hangout.

I'm @andyluy and I've been here for almost 2 months, and I can tell you that steemit is the most amazing thing I've ever seen at the internet so far. I'm happy seeing it grows every day!
I had some hard time on the firsts week, so I spent some time searching information to improve my experience with it, latter I've decided to make posts about those and others helpful information in order to help the new ones to have a shortcut to get deeper knowledge of steemit and its potencial.

Welcome to Steemit! I think you'll find it very rewarding here. Many of us have moved from "civilization" to homesteading. It can be challenging but oh so rewarding. I wouldn't go back for anything...
