Early adopter, late arrival - did I miss the train?!

So yesterday, a friend mentioned Steemit to me and said I must check out the new crypto that is doing the rounds. Having got into altcoins, last year I have subsequently embraced this new tech & find it has been a fascinating and exciting journey. My first thought, of course, was "hell, another crypto trying to make it big". Curiosity got the best of me and I did a quick search: this is something different, its not run of the mill. It was late and I signed up and was met by a blank page with none of the usual visual sparkles that a back-office/ dashboard offerings. Nothing seemed amazing, no angelic chorus in the background, no (stock) photos appealing to some subconscious desire, actually not much at all.
Boring, said the head. What's the hype, what do I type? Too tired to bother I figured to do a little research over my morning coffee. Something must have nagged me, I had left my Mac open on the Steemit page as a reminder to check it all out, and then it dawned on me. A mate of mine had come up with an idea to create stories on a blockchain, the idea being to allow the story to grow, in some kind of organic way involving a reward for participation. I am sitting having toast, with marmalade, drinking a great cup of coffee; "Dude, your words were prophetic!" - Neither of us could have known, in the consciousness of humanity, that this idea had already taken root. Rupert Sheldrake will be impressed, Adrian had quite possibly drawn a spark of an idea from the M-field, and was preternaturally connected with a concept that I now know as Steemit!
Welcome me world to the infinite innovation of the human mind and to the idea that global consciousness is exercising itself through technology. I feel, already, that the tracks have been laid for a new connectivity that bridges us, using tech, without loosing our humanity.
I have not told him yet but will link him in today. This is going to be a fun ride, and how could I have known that blockchain has added yet another dimension to itself. Bravo folks!
About me: I own a great coffee shop in a small town called George, South Africa. I left a career in chemical engineering and downscaled my life. I probably complicated it in many ways, but mostly very content. Relaxation comes by way of motorised two wheels on a GS650. My mates and I like to camp & they drink too much, but they are good guys.
Mind says, "Kelvin, press post now before you bore the folks!"

How can you think you missed the train...when the train is still in beta? :)

Thanks for you welcome, qwertas. I will check out the link, just getting a handle on this new stuff at the moment. Cheers, Kelvin
