My first blog ever and Steemit introduction!

Hello everyone! This is actually the first blog post that I have ever made in my life, so here it goes.

My name is Jimmy and I am 29 years old and I am from Calgary, Alberta Canada. I stumbled upon Steemit when I was purchasing video cards to setup a miner (thanks Russ). After lurking for 2 weeks I decided to make an account and since it is tradition I decided to make an “introduceyourself” post.

Most of my younger years were spent playing video games, more specifically Counter-Strike. I was lucky enough to be called a pro. I was able to travel with my team around the world and compete at tournaments. I’ve been all over the USA to compete as well as overseas a few times to places like Italy, Paris and Singapore. If there are any old school gamers on Steemit, the more notable teams I played for were Evil Geniuses and Team 3D. For the rest of you, those team names will mean absolutely nothing.

After my gaming career I started to work with various IT consulting companies. I was able to gain a ton of experience working at different oil and gas companies. To this day I am still working in IT but directly with a company instead of through a consulting firm.

I haven’t spent much time on a computer outside of work in the last decade. For the longest time the last thing I wanted to do after looking at a monitor all day, was to come home and look at a monitor for even longer. At the beginning of the year I met up with an old teammate while I was on vacation in Taiwan and he was telling me about gaming and how it is now compared to 10 years ago. He was able to convince me to buy a computer and start gaming as soon as I got home. Since the beginning of the year I’ve mostly been playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive up until recently I’ve been playing a lot of Player Unknown Battlegrounds.

Outside of being on the computer I enjoy snowboarding, weightlifting, golfing and spending time with my little family watching TV shows.

I’m excited to be using this platform, I love the structure and from what I’ve seen so far the friendly community. I always thought content creators on other websites were not rewarded properly so I am excited to see something like this in existence.
