Jed, humanist, pleasured to meet you.

Greetings to the Steemit community. You can call me Jed, a little nickname I have used for myself for as long as I can remember. Please allow me the honor to introduce myself.

I am a 20 year old Canadian college student, studying in STEM, in pure and applied science. Ever since birth, there has always been one thing that perplexed my mind and has made me stay up many nights, and that is the infinite beauty of the universe and our place within it.

Many people wander aimlessly in life, and many others are simply unsure of what they wish to become, but personally, I have been blessed by the realization of what I've wanted to become ever since a very young age, and that realization was that I wanted to devote the rest of my life to the study of the cosmos, in all it's beauty, mysteries and glory. Thus pushing me to aim for a career in astronomy. The universe has always boggled my mind, as a kid the sight of stars in the night would always leave me in awe, with sparks going off in my heart.

While I may seem like a man purely dedicated to science, I am also a believer in humanity, in humanity as a whole. I have hope for our species, that one day we will build ships and sail off to explore the wonders of the universe, in search of the most mystifying questions that have haunted our species, "Why are we here?", "Why do we exist?" and "What is our purpose?". This isn't an essay about metaphysics, but rather the belief that all humans possess a common fate and destiny.

Despite the all the suffering and misery in the world, I realize that we live in an unparalleled golden age and that pushing forward, we can create a better world for all humans.

I wish to bring hope and unification to the human race, to contribute my part as a citizen of Earth, our homeworld, at the very least. Thank you for reading!!
