SELF-INTRODUCTION: My Goals through Steemit! :)

Good day Steemians!

I am Harrah, 19 years old, I live in Cebu, Philippines. I am a College student in Cebu Eastern College (CEC) taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English. In my free time, I read books, I play the guitar, and I sing songs to the Lord for my passion. I am an active member in the church. I am a Christian and I love God. I always go to church every Sunday and even other days to attend church activities. Sometimes, I hang out with my friends, we go to karaoke, we travel to different places in Cebu. (bisag way kwarta hahaha).

I was encouraged by my sister @honeyletsgo to join Steemit last year but I hesitated because I didn't consider myself as a writer because I am not good at writing.

Today I finally decided to join Steemit to fulfill some goals. Here are the three goals I want to share to you and hopefully accomplish it by the end of the year:

1. Improve my writing skills

As what I've mentioned, I do not consider myself as a writer but my sister said joining in Steemit may help me improve that skill. I always prefer speaking than writing because I can easily think of random things to say in a more casual way without minding so much about my grammar. Writing is more of a struggle to me. I don't know if you can relate to this. LOL!

2. Build more self confidence

I am an introvert person. I don't socialize often with people because I prefer to just stay home reading, or watching Korean dramas. Don't get me wrong. I am not a loner. I often spend time with my churchmates during church activities. I feel like I belong in there not on the outside world. My goal is to socialize more often with the Steemians that I am going to meet along the way. I aim to be more open-minded of the things I encounter everyday. I hope to meet you guys soon! :)

3. Learn new things

I know there are thousands of people here on Steemit. My sister told me that she met new friends in Steemit like @ybanezkim26 and @thegaillery and she mentioned that she learned new ideas from them. So I also think through joining Steemit, I can also gain new friends and learn new things from them.

I hope and pray that I can achieve my goals through Steemit! :)

Thank you so much for reading! God bless!

Welcome to steemit and good luck!

It's nice to welcome you here, welcome to steemit I wish you all the best. =)

thank you so much! @purepinay :)

Hello, Harrah,

As a teacher / editor / writer, I would like to make you feel welcome on Steemit. This is a great platform for writers, since it's essentially a mass blog. And of course, it can be used as a great teaching / study tool.

In fact, I've been uploading a vocabulary dictionary for learners of English, called Vocab-ability. Here's a link to my latest post in this series ... https://steemit.com/writing/@majes.tytyty/b-vocab-ability-a-more-powerful-vocabulary-this-post-includes-all-entries-beginning-with-the-letter-b-this-is-a-revised-post I hope it helps you learn, and if you end up teaching, I hope it helps your students, too.

As for writing, it takes a lot of time and practice, not to mention confidence. I too was (am) somewhat introverted, and I still feel a bit hesitant about writing material that people have to read.

Of course, writing is a craft, and we have to learn and refine our craft continually. I realized that if I write well, and write about things that matter, and write in such a way that captures the interest of the reader, it can be very rewarding.

From your intro, I can tell that you have solid abilities as a writer. Just keep at it. (I'll be here to encourage you, at least as long as you need it. ☺)

Below are a few basic points of advice re posting on Steemit.

  1. Longer posts are more lucrative than short posts. If you make a post of 20–30 paragraphs, it's more likely to earn rewards.
  2. Include some photos, images or graphs, to complement the text.
  3. Make sure the text and photos are formatted properly, so that your post looks attractive and appealing.
  4. Be yourself.
  5. Be interesting and informative.
  6. Create quality content. Steemit is intended to be a platform of quality content. (You will see many insignificant posts with meager content and no quality. Most of those of posts [called “shitposts” by Steemit whale Stellabelle] will earn few rewards and soon pass into oblivion.)
  7. Get online and start curating. Read various posts, comment on those posts you find interesting, and upvote those posts. That’s the best way to attract followers.

Hope this helps for now. Good luck, and Full Steem Ahead!

Welcome to steemit @itsharrah! So you're the sister of a woman who came in late, barge in as if she knows everyone, and became our best friend in matter of minutes. If you're her sister, please tell her she's the most weird yet interesting thing that happened to me since I joined steemit.
