Hello Steemit,

I'm really excited to be joining this community. So, who the hell am I and why am I here?

Who:

My name is Aaron Henry, but my sobriquet here is insightgenerator. I have a PhD in Political Economy and Sociology, but that isn't really important or interesting. What matters is that I work as a strategic foresight specialist. What's that, you ask? It's a more "dignified" term for "futurist" (apparently, for some people, the title of futurist gives off a tinfoil-hat sort of vibe). I conduct research to help organizations understand how the world is changing and the opportunities and challenges they might face withing the next 5, 10, 15 years.

I have developed plausible futures in the areas of energy demand and autonomous vehicles, finance and debt, artificial intelligence, and the future of work. While I enjoy this work, I also find it provides me with a significant advantage in how I invest and make long term decisions. I am proud to say I have used strategic foresight to develop a strong cryptocurrency portfolio from scratch (more on this in a subsequent post, but the next three years are all about Chinese BCs, the reasons for this aren't what you might expect) and sourced high growth potential equities. It is an excellent skillset to hone and I would be excited to share what I can with everyone on Steemit.

So why am I here?

The short answer is that I love to write. I'm never going to be a Nobel Laureate but I am literate and I get a kick out of it. Story telling is something that I do professionally and for pleasure. I have published blogposts, long form essays, podcasts (some of which I plan to share here), and flash fiction.

The long answer is that as a professional futurist I come up with insights that, for a variety of reasons, never really make it off the cutting room floor. Okay, the reasons often aren't that complex and are usually singular: the idea or concept just isn't what the firm needs to know to be successful in its operating environment. I am joining Steemit in the hope that I can build on some of these insights and, most importantly, share them with a wider community that can glean value from them.

What can you expect to see from me on here? In full disclosure I have a short attention span and end up dabbling in lots of areas. However, I consistently circle back to developing future scenarios in the following areas:

Blockchain and Access Economies

Future of Work and Platform Capitalism

Future of Immortality (biological and digital)

Autonomous vehicles

Political Culture and Fake News

Occasionally, I might also drop a short creative non-fiction and fiction story or two. I hope to have some posts live by the end of this week.
