New Steemians Project Launch
Hi Fellow Steemians
I am Gaman. I have been in the cryptocurrency scene for quite awhile now and am glad to find this awesome community. I am an aspring witness and I would like to help the Steem community grow and prosper. I believe that if we handhold new members of the steem community, we can retain more members to be part of this amazing group. So, I decided to launch a project called: "New Steemians".
Main Initiatives
There are three main initiatives for this project:
- To educate new members of the community
- To help make their post more visible
- To give extra rewards to new members of the community
So, for the first initiative. I started a new series of articles which aims to educate them on the security, different terminologies, and best practises in the steem community. Hopefully, this can guide them thru the usage of steem, specially for those new into the cryptocurrency scene. For the second initiative, I decided to resteem the articles of members of this project. Every hour, I will be picking 1 article to resteem. To limit the number of articles qualified, there are 3 requirements:
- First, you must be following me. This serves as an intention you wish to be part of the project.
- Second, you must have less than 500 followers.
- Your article must be at least 1000 characters long.
For the third initiative, I plan to host a weekly game that will have a monetary prize for new steemians. This game is open to all steemians, with the following criteria:
- Less than 500 followers
- Contributed at least 1 article (min. 1000 chars long) during the week

If you would like to take part in this project and help the steem community, just reply to this article. You can contribute in a lot of ways.
- You can help write an article for the New to Steem series.
- You can help resteem the articles.
- Suggest good ideas that we can help new steem members.

I was wondering this too. Maybe we need more rep
I built a "tree" for all of my content. Everything to date meets those requirements. There's plenty of minnows waiting for a resteem! If not resteem one person twice.

There's an arrow bent back on itself at the end of an article. Hover over it and it should tell you if you have the correct one.
Why don't I have a resteem icon on this post? .It's usually next to the reply button but nothing there.
You can only resteem before payout time, then the button disappears :(

Why do people resteem? And can or should you resteem your own posts?
Hi @wales. There is a reward for resteeming, replying and upvoting. It all falls under the banner of curating. No, you can only resteem other's posts. Don't resteem if you have just posted as it places the article you have resteemed on the TOP of your feed. Wait at least 3 or so days and then read interesting posts, upvote and resteem if it adds decent curator rewards.
If you have an old post that you want to get attention , someone can resteem it for you. It is frowned upon to re-submit a post you have done previously and can have you downvoted. Hope that makes sense!

I've never been on Tweeter, so peculiarly enough I don't know what a retweet is - hence I don't know what a resteem is... could you catch me up on this?
sure, a resteem is when some one reposts your post for you.
Since it is a feed, after a few hours your post is really far down and not many people see it anymore. when someone resteems your post it puts it back up at the top of the feed and shares it on their page with all of their friends as well.
i think that explains it a bit?

Steemit is a little difficult to learn but well worth it. just keep at it every day and then one day you will wake up and have $1,000 in your account :) that can only happen on steemit

An upvote is the little green circle with a arrow point up next to the dollar amount. U click it if u like an article or a comment.
U cannot resteem ur own articles, only other peoples.

In all due respect to you @gaman, 1,000 words is a lot. And remember quantity does not necessarily mean quality. I am sure you know this and as blogger for 10 years myself I try to mainly concentrate on quality.

This sound like good support for new members to boost their visibility. I admire your effort, and would love to be a part of your project!
Regarding my own articles, only my intro is over 1000 characters. For the rest I actually strive to keep the ammount of text to a "minimum" - having my photos and videos doing most of the "talking". May therefor not fit that rule of yours.
