Hi Steemit, I’m a snowboarder, skydiver, crazy cat person and I’ve converted to the Church of Steemit. Let me #introducemyself
I think Steemit is making me a better person. My introduction and story so far...
I've been using Steemit for about a week now and figured it was time to #introducemyself.
Hello there :)
Regrettably, I'm not an attractive female so if you've made it this far then I'm impressed. As a reward for what I can only assume is your genuine curiosity, here you go...
(Sorry to any Steemit feminists out there but this is the key to a successful post, right?!)
Joking aside,
My story so far...
I'm 24, currently living and working in Manchester, UK. My job in an office isn't nearly as interesting as the developers, photographers, artists, entrepreneurs and travellers that you'll read about on Steemit, so I'll spare you the uninspiring details.
Now, I have almost no history with crypto. A basic understanding, yes. I was always passively aware but it's never really been in my sphere of things I care about. That being said, the amount I have learned in the last 7 days is astounding. Steemit has opened my eyes to the broader realm of cryptocurrency. I can only liken it to a pilgrim discovering a new land or a priest being confronted with the divine, and can honestly say it's a euphoric feeling - arousing the neurotransmitters in my brain and flooding the pathways with Steemit-infused dopamine as if Walter White had cooked it up himself.
Steemit is almost certainly becoming an obsession. I find myself spending my waking hours either day-dreaming and cataloguing ideas to write about or just involuntarily scrolling and clicking, desperate for more delectable content to consume. So much so that I ended up making a post about procrastinating at work while I was procrastinating at work which I feel illustrates this well. The learning curve for me has been steep, though as a result of this recently acquired infatuation with Steemit I'm accumulating knowledge about the cryptocurrency world at an alarming rate and it's pretty exhilarating. Now I'm a believer.
Anyway, here's a few quick-fire anecdotes about me to get the ball rolling:
- This is me jumping out of a plane which I love to do:
Although my housemate has photoshop, too much time on his hands and likes to try to convince people otherwise...
- I have a rescued cat named Slash who looks at me disapprovingly when I try to take pictures of her and her kittens:
I was expelled from high school for spiking a friend's drink with viagra as a prank (Ok so not my proudest moment but it's 'hard' not to laugh, right?)
My existence is a direct result of Hitler and the Nazi's...
(This seemed like a good topic to start with for my first post on Steemit: https://steemit.com/existential/@fleetinuance/my-existence-is-a-direct-result-of-hitler-and-the-nazi-s-what-s-your-family-history)
- Snowboarding is a passion of mine:
I love being being up in the mountains. The sights are breathtaking and It gives you that really humbling sense of insignificance when compared against the grandeur and scale of the landscape.
In short,
I'm a graduate in the field of politics - keen snowboarder - aspiring entrepreneur - self-taught musician and guitarist - DIY enthusiast - compulsive tea drinker - and I guess by proxy, now an aspiring blogger and cryptocurrency supporter.
Most of which I'm super excited to be blogging about in the coming weeks.
Converting to the Church of Steemit - No longer a mindless Facebook zombie...
For someone like myself who has never really taken to blogging or habitual sharing on social media in general and has thus far struggled to find a suitable means or outlet for creative expression, Steemit provides a great opportunity. It’s the perfect storm of a direct monetary incentive and a burgeoning community of like-minded individuals willing to support you on your journey to self-discovery. Can you say the same for Facebook or Twitter or any of the other social media giants?
Like many others, it is encouraging me to attempt to verbalise and articulate introspective things and share aspects of my life that I otherwise never would have. There’s inherent value to this, both for an individual’s personal development and mental health, and for the community who get to enjoy the insights, observations, wisdom and expertise which may never have seen the light of day had it not been for this platform. I'm witnessing so many examples of this unfold here and the effect will only compound as more and more people join the congregation. My personal experience with Steemit has already taught me that you can unearth creativity and passion where you previously may have just assumed it was absent, becoming a better, more enhanced version of yourself; and that’s a pretty powerful thing.
In closing,
I'm really looking forward to contributing further to this platform and connecting with all the people who are blazing the trail for what I'm sure is probably going to be the next revolution in social media.
Glad to be a part of it.
Tom

welcome in the club. I have joined the steemit 1 month ago and I made $13K.
And I am a regular guy:)) so yeah, glad yo have u here @fleetinuance
Glad to be here my friend. You must be killing it, keep it up!
Hehehe. By far.
The thing is that you have to have that great post that will make a whale vote for you. I have started a month ago, and I was posting only crap. Seriously. Some domain names that I have, some brexit news, etc. CRAP:))
Then, luck started to come to me with the curation of Steemit 101- the Amazon book review and gained 200 STEEM.
Then, the strato initiative: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@gabi-dumitriu/hello-steem-community
And I am a regular guy, no boobs, or makeup tutorial. I guess it depends of your luck....Or about how good you write:)
I guess, we will never know:))
I will give it a shot.
Haha, nice post; I love your cat's sense of humour and that was such a tantalising line about your existence, that I just have to read!
Nice one :-)

Thank you!
It's "hard" not to laugh.... Awesome
Haha he didn't find it as hilarious as the rest of us did. Henceforth known as 'boner boy' thanks to me.
I just signed up for steemit. I love to snowboard too! I used to mine bitcoins and now I mine other crypto-currencies. Steemit is by far the most unique!
Yeah man I'm hooked!
Greetings!
Not sure if bot or not. But thanks anyway!
Enjoy your stay!

Thanks Willbot!
Welcome Tom to the community, great photo's!
Hopefully you can bring some interesting content to Steemit and it'll take you on a journey of entrepreneurship and travelling! I loved that pun as well 'hard not to laugh' XD
Thanks @jholmes91! The collaborative and supportive ethos of Steemit is what has drawn me in and I'll certainly be doing my best to contribute.
Great, I'm sure you'll be very valued on here, enjoy!
Great pics. Welcome to the Social Media Revolution. My 19 year old daughter wants to try snow boarding. We are going this winter in the NC mountains. Great post and good luck.
Awesome. If she struggles, tell her that snowboarding is harder to learn but easier to master - skiing is easier to learn but much more difficult to be really good at. You just have to get over that first hurdle and you're away. Thanks and take care.
