Hello Steemians, i'd like to introduce myself and embark on a journey with you.
Hello Steemit!
My name is Leon,
i'm a 29 years old student from germany and found steemit while learning about crypto currencies. I'm amazed by this platform and already addicted to it. I believe that this is the social media platform of the future and we will see a drastic increase in usage in the next 1-3 years. I'm happy to contribute to this great community and can't wait to start embarking on this journey with you.
What are my plans?!:
My blog shall become my own personal way of contributing to a better future. I am convinced that we need more discussions about social, political and daily life problems. It seems that more and more people are retreating into their shells, leaving the difficult/painful topics, which happen to be the most relevant, for others to solve. I think its self centred, often egoistic. Maybe it's fear to run into conflict with someone for standing up for your own opinion.
What happens is that we give up more and more power and hand it to the ones in charge, big corporations, institutions, governments and wealthy individuals. We have become accustomed to caring about ourselves and our own "problems". We believe that our governments will handle the rest. It seems that people think of protest as an extremist behaviour, abnormal and radical. My parents generation was different. They went on the streets, protesting whenever there was reason for it. Today it's quite rare to see people stand up and fight back.
I would like to contribute by encouraging people to engage in social and political discussions. I believe that we as human beings and society as a whole can only evolve into something greater if we start new dialogues. We need to realize that dispute is necessary in order to progress. If everyone were of the same opinion we would never change, we would never have new ideas, new insight. Imho, constructive criticism is the essence of change.
With a new consensus comes the responsibility to act. I treasure the internet and platforms like this, but we also need to act after we have discusses, debated and agreed. I hope that one day i will be able to transform this Blog into an actual movement or at least a way to influence people to stand up and protest more frequently. I myself, pledge to become more active and act on my believes!
Let's not be afraid of having an opinion, let's not be afraid of being wrong. Let's be open for a different opinion and find new consesus. Let's accept our counterpart and agree that there is the likely possibility that we are wrong.
Let's find out and engage in a merry journey of discussions. I'm open for any topics and i'm looking forward to your feedback and comments.

Welcome, Leon. So, let's engage in a political discussion: What's your position regarding Russia?
Now thats a broad topic ;) I must say that i'm no expert in politics and i will most likely post about german related problems and news. I must say, that i am not so sure about the image of russia, that is being created here and in other countries. A lot of bad things are being said and there certainly is a lot of propaganda...i think that politics is a game, which is very hard to understand if youa re not in it. Never the less i think that there are a lot of things going wrong in russia too. there is a lot of censorship and the freedom of press is vastly in danger. i dont know how russian see this, because putin is certainly doing a lot for russians, but for what cost? What about minorities that are being oppressed, what about politicians that have a different opinion and must fear for their lives, what about journalists? Let's discuss :) maybe you have a bit more insight than me...Looking forward to hear from you! Greetings!

Here a few tips for starters snce you probably won't get any advice from those who comment under here, here's what I gathered thus far.
It's tough to make money at first so if that's your main cause to be on here grind that into your head straight away, that doesn't mean you shouldn't post content, you should, but enganging with others in the comment sections to grow your following is your best bet. Which categories?
Probably the introduce yourself one and the photography section but you can choose things that you have knowledge about too and then go from there just know that there is a lot of crap on here so plowing through that just to connect with others can be tough. Cheers.
