From Mexico, To Poland, To Food, To Crypto and finally... To Steemit!
Hey guys! I joined Steemit just yesterday, so I thought I would introduce myself. Although my story might not be as interesting (or as long) as yours, I will try to make it as entertaining as possible.
My name is Omar, I'm 20 years old.
I was born somewhere around here:
But for the last 8-9 years, I have been living here:
When I was around 11 years old, I decided to come to Poland and spend a year with my grandparents. I knew the language (kind of), the culture (kind of) so I thought "why not?". 10 000 km weren't going to stop me, after all, this just seemed to be so beautiful to me:
Long story short - I stayed. I think my mom still hates me for that (just kidding, she is a very supportive person). I finished school here. Having no hard skills, I started working in sales. Then I started a Philosophy BA course but I dropped out. Although it was something that interested me (and still does!), I thought I'd rather work for the time being. Oh, I got promoted after a few months, which made me even less eager to graduate. Had the money so I moved out with my girlfriend, rented a flat. Sometimes I regret moving out so early - imagine the amount of money I would have been able to invest into crypto if I didn't have any expenses! Overall, life is good, much better than I would have imagined a few years back.
Oh, did I mention crypto? Yeah well, I have been kind of obsessed since I started learning. I started with BTC as did most of you. At the beginning, I was like "What the hell?! 2000$?! I will wait until the price drops a little bit!". Yeah... It didn't. And I kept saying that to myself "be patient, it will drop". I actually ever only invested twice, and it was a very small amount, <50 USD. I spent that BTC on my first ICO - Electroneum. Oh boy, I was so hyped. When they launched the blockchain, I set my alarm to around 3am so that I could wake up and mine. It was a great success - with a crappy GTX 650 I managed to mine around 100$ worth of ETN in the first 24 hours after it went live. Well... Don't get me wrong, I do believe this coin can make it big. Just look at the way they were able to get complete newbies (like me) into ICOs. I'm starting to believe more and more that they are legit. Still, we must wait and see what time brings.
To elaborate on this topic - I wouldn't want to offend anyone by calling myself a trader, so I'm just going to say I'm learning to trade crypto. Most of the Technical Analysis knowledge I have comes from me wanting to get involved in Forex around a year ago. Needless to say, I didn't make it out of demo accounts. I just didn't feel comfortable enough to start staking my money on something I'm not at least 90% sure about.
Okay, enough of this crypto stuff - my biggest love is actually cooking. I can come back home after a very exhausting day at work, take a deep breath and spend a few hours in the kitchen. I just love it. The feeling of accomplishment after having cooked something tasty is just... Wow.
Worst day ever ---> Cook something great ---> I'm in heaven
Easy as that.
One of the worst things for me about moving out of Mexico was missing out on all those great dishes. Although with some homemade enfrijoladas, I manage to survive!
There's this stereotype about Mexican food being very spicy. The funny thing is, I didn't start eating much spicy food until I moved to Poland. Nostalgic, much?
So yeah, that's pretty much it for now. If you found this interesting, hit me up - I love connecting to people with similar interests.
If you managed to get through that Great Wall of Text (I know I wouldn't), then good job to you, have a good day and - last but not least - remember to HODL if you want them lambos.
OZ
ps. I mentioned that "it seemed so beautiful to me". Yeah. It did. Now I just want some heat and sun.

Hi and welcome to steemit. I hope you like it here and good luck!
Hi Omar. I am new, too, and love to cook. One of my favorite things to cook and serve my guests is Tex-Mex style food. I also make cooking videos on YT. I have several vids that have a Mexican theme: Pico de Gallo, Huevos Rancheros, Chili Rellenos, and Pumpkin Empanadas. OMG, my mouth is watering thinking of those empanadas. Hope to see some of your recipes. soon.
I will try me best to deliver! See you around!
