Who I am and Why I'm Here

Hello everyone! My name is Elizabeth, and I'm a rising junior at Stanford University studying Management Science and Engineering (MS&E) and Computer Science. I am fascinated by disruptive technologies like blockchain and have explored this interest as a financial technology researcher in the Department of Management Science and Engineering at Stanford and as a blockchain analyst at several startups in the Bay Area. I found out about the Steemit platform through researching promising blockchain applications and am super excited to finally join the Steemit community!

What Kind of Content To Expect

I plan to post content about my research on cool blockchain projects like Steemit, personal interests (e.g. musical theater, TV/Youtube/movies, classical voice, ballet), and life as a Stanford student. If any of this sounds interesting to you, please follow and introduce yourself in the comments!

Be very welcome to steemit social network. I've been here since February of this year and I'm really enjoying. I participate here actively every day. Here, we can learn a lot by reading other people's posts about content that interest us and we can post our own content, helping people within our areas of expertise, training our writing, making a kind of "therapy" because, writing helps us to reflect on our knowledge and we will be slightly paid for it. I hope you enjoy.

My main tip is: before you begin to post your content, read the posts by teaching staff how to use this network, about how to write good text, how are the coins sbd, steem and steem power, how to advertise your text using the discord by example, votes issues and other things.

Other than that, we are always available. If you have any questions, go ahead.

Hello elizabeth6! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.

Good morning @elizabeth6! Catching up on my profile's activity, I found you had recently started following my posts. So, in looking at your profile, it was nice to find your introductory post. Welcome to our Steem Community!

In reading about you, it stands out to me you are just beginning your career and have already identified blockchain technology as something you would like to know more about,

Disruptive indeed. Educated and working the first 20 years of my life as an engineer, I am at the opposite end of my career, closing it out working as a Business Systems Analyst. You may find some interest in reading my IIBA Conference 2017 post about this amazing international conference of analysts and their perspective on the future.

Reference to blockchain technology as disruptive, particularly when combined with AI, featured prominently ...

Relatively new to our Steem Community myself, I have a favor to ask @elizabeth6. As time permits, I would greatly appreciate learning what it was in my posts and / or comments which both caught your eye and then prompted you to follow me. Thanks.

It's funny that you should mention @crypto.talk, because I actually had the pleasure of meeting him recently. From my experience with him, your Month 1 Update post hit the nail on the head—@crypto.talk's "total commitment to the best possible user experience" is truly incredible, and the dedication of @Partiko's engineers is what makes @Partiko the best mobile Steem app!

Thank you for the investment of your time in your response @elizabeth6 and the kind words of encouragement in return. Frankly, the number one issue I face in my involvement "in here" is my time. Words like this make it seem worthwhile ...

And, wow, you've met @crypto.talk? That sounds great. As mentioned in that post, not sure what the chances are I will ever meet him, but I'm confident we'd get along. "Kindred spirits" I think ...
