SteemIt, It is nice to meet you. I am Drew and I love people.

Hi. My name is Drew. I have had a couple posts, but I thought it was time for a true intro. My friends daughter nicknamed me Drewdy years ago and it stuck as a funny nickname. My nickname at the gym is 'Funny Guy' because I love to make people laugh. **Background** I am 44 and married. I grew up in Wisconsin, the youngest of five, and never left. I have never traveled outside the United States, unless you count Tijuana for a couple hours while in San Diego. I love working out and anything challenging on a computer. I can teach myself just about anything (my wife says it is a gift), from learning new software to learning Java. I am a very protective person over those close to me and people I don't even know. I will not stand by and let someone take satisfaction from abusing, insulting or intimidating another person. I could tell countless stories relating to that. I will do everything I can to help those in need (car broken down, stuck in the snow, consoling someone visibly upset, etc. **Career** I have been a Mechanical Designer since I was 18. Wow, that is over 25 years. I work at a small consulting firm and get to wear many hats, so every week can be a different kind of work. We primarily work with gearboxes. I can be in CAD one day, FEA the next, doing some Photo-Realistic Renderings the next, to solving at IT problem with the network and/or computer.

**Interests/Pursuits** I love computers. Every couple years I build a new one that is more and more capable. Also more expensive. Here is the last one I built. I use it at my office as it allows me to do FEA at a level previously unattainable due to memory restrictions. For anyone curious it has (5) 290x, 64gb 2400mhz Quad Channel, 6 core Intel OC'd to 4.2ghz, and a lot of fans! Having researching fans quite a bit, it is surprisingly quiet for 27 fans (about 50db).

A few years back a wrote a music trivia game that never left the ground on kickstarter. Had to learn a lot of programming and got to do a lot of graphics work. It was a one man show. It took me three years to make it from scratch, proving out different facets, beating restrictions of the DVD code, etc. I don't regret doing it as I walked away with a lot of knowledge.

I am an avid weightlifter for close to 30 years. It has done wonders for both my self confidence and my ability to control my anger. Yet, I remain humble and only use my size/strength when I am either helping someone move something, in need of help (car stuck), or to fend off people who are not doing good by another. I would encourage anyone lacking in the self confidence or self esteem department to try getting into weightlifting. I outgrew the gym I am at and had to make up my own dumbbells for some exercises.

**Music** I am an audiophile. I have a recording studio that I offer to those who cannot afford one themselves. I don't charge as I enjoy working with the people just as much as I enjoy making the music. I have written 20-30 songs, some for me, some for others. I have the most fun composing the music, although writing lyrics can be fun too. There is no reward greater than having someone tell you that you helped make their dreams come true by getting to record. I am friends with some of those people to this day. Here are the last two songs I wrote and one cover. One is about me going through a divorce and then finding my way back via the girl I am married to today. The other is about my nephew making bad decisions. The third is a cover about how rare honesty is. I am glad I found SteemIt and glad to be part of this. I wish you all the best and hope if and when I become successful on here, that I can spread that around to those trying to do the same. Drew

Wow!! That computer you built looks a total beast :D

It looks like a litecoin mining rig, like old times.

I'm able to leverage all the video cards for processing in rendering programs, via OpenCL.

Thanks. I put specs in for anyone curious. It is so stable, it runs for months without a reboot.

I need to attempt that one day :)

Takes money, but most importantly patience. I remember having to read a lot of blogs to get five video cards working when I built it. Then there is getting the most out of it as far as performance. Keeping it cool despite all the heat it produces. I am still a little afraid of water cooling.

me too! I have the best air fan on the market. Don't want to try water cooling just yet!

Welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay!
