Hi Steemit - I'm @dougsandlin - Nice to Meet You (All)!

I'm @dougsandlin.

I just joined Steemit - and I'm really excited about the potential for a few reasons.

1. Social is already proven to be "yuge".

2. Blockchain promises to be even "yuger". (My favorite current quote along those lines is: "Blockchain is to transactions as email is to snail mail."
3. I can foresee an era of interactive value arising - where we actually compensate each other for offering things - including content, comments and other online activities - in the form of actual currency - whether digital (like bitcoin) or transferable to traditional funds (i.e. dollars, euros, etc.).

4. Likely a bunch more I haven't thought of yet.

I spent most of my life in Silicon Valley, a few years in Austin, TX - and have spend the last eight years in Pennsylvania's awesome Lehigh Valley (aka Allentown and environs). Most people know Allentown from the Billy Joel song - but it's changed a bit since then.

Quite a bit, actually.

We're the fastest growing city in the state; we just invested a billion dollars in revitalizing our downtown and waterfront, we have multiple startups and startup accelerators - and we're one of the U.S.'s primary ecommerce logistics hubs (Amazon and FedEx are both building huge new distribution facilities here.)

I was involved with tech companies for most of my career, and then started my own endeavor - Living Unbound, which is focused on getting the most out of meditation, mindfulness and optimizing consciousness-experience, overall. This led to the development of the Living Unbound framework, and the Open Humanity framework - which I recently introduced on Medium (where I'm also @dougsandlin ).

And even YouTube, where I have a few videos, including a couple of original songs I've written and recorded - along with a 3 Minute Guide to Starting a 50 Billion Dollar Company (courtesy of Social+Capital founder Chamath Palihapitiya - who actually started / funded the company he envisions in that video).

Personally, I like to read (voraciously - hence my 561 titles on Goodreads; I need to add a few more - and yes, I've read them all), discuss current events online (ditto), promote a more aware way of living (hence the meditation, mindfulness, living unbound, etc. focus), enjoy awesome Indian food (my partner is originally from Mumbai, and she's an excellent cook - and so, I get to do that, often), and hang out with family - which includes our dog, Toby (a ten pound mystery-mix we rescued from a shelter, who is fairly sure he's a wolf, much of the time -- just ask the always-bigger dogs in our neighborhood).
