An activist, a programmer, a traveler, and on the better days- a social introvert. Greetings from Bosnia.steemCreated with Sketch.

Pictures speak a thousand words, why not start with two?

The first one is current me. The second one is also me (surprise), albeit from last year. That was my introduction to activism.

Now, You know the drill. I’ve got to do the boring “Hi, I’m insert name”. I’ll keep it short, pinky swear. Hi, I’m Din. I’m 17.I’m from Bosnia. With that out of the way, let’s carry on.

My life story as a TL;DR- part one

I was born in February of the year 2000, and basically existed until mid 2016. I was a your ordinary antisocial nerdy geek. Nothing to talk about here.

My life story as a TL;DR- part two

Summer of 2016 was essentially my turning point. I was introduced to activism by accident- though that’s a story for a different time.  Since then, my lifestyle has turned upside down.

The antisocial boring annoying me is slowly being phased out by another me (that’s what I like to think at least).

So, Who am I?

I'm a programmer

In a way. I won’t go into technicalities right now. If asked, I’d reckon that programming was one of the most influential things I’ve learned in my life. Despite being bad at it, my current programming achievements make me fairly proud of myself, if I may say so.

This picture is from February. I’ve heard Steemit doesn’t like C/P, so I’ll just link my medium story for this event. Long story short: Made a website, got a full scholarship for one of the best Bosnian universities. You should totally read that story. And no, I’m not just saying that to get more views on Medium.

This is the achievement I’m probably the most proud of. Infomatrix is a world-wide IT competition held in Romania, and I managed to get a gold medal. I’ve yet to write a blog for this one, so maybe Steemit might be a perfect place for that story!

I have another medal, though this one is bronze, so I’ll just leave it be.

This one was from a project fair in Croatia.

If you think I’m bragging with all these medals, wait until I get to the narcissist part.

I’m an activist

This one I’m still working on. Basically, after being introduced to activism, slowly started liking it. Right now, I’m the coordinator of ASuBiH (Association of high school students in Bosnia and Herzegovina) for my town. I consider activism to be one of the main parts of my life.

This is a picture taken from a recent team-building meeting. I’ve had to blur their faces, as I don’t want anybody getting angry at me. Lame, I know. Better safe than sorry.

I’m a traveler

The cool thing about being an activist is getting to visit different places. I don't really have too many images for this part of the blog, as I tend to avoid unnecessary photo shoots. Also, my PC is broken, so I can't get to all the images I've saved from trips (Yes I know about backups, but laziness did its thing).

This was in Kruševac, Serbia. Not the most scenic view, but definitely a unique experience.

One thing I learned about travelling during my trip to Mostar (Bosnia) was to really enjoy the moment. We tend to spend our trips obsessed with taking photos, getting the perfect instagram story, coming up with the best description for our new profile picture. We tend to do everything but enjoy the moment.

During my trip to Mostar, I disconnected myself from everything but the present. No Facebook. No Instagram. It was one of the most enlightening experiences I’ve ever had during a trip.

Of course, the disconnection wasn’t exactly a voluntary one. Nah, I was planning on spamming my instagram story with pictures. My phone had different plans- it died on the trip.

Here’s a Wikipedia picture of the old bridge, as I don’t have any of my own.

Pro tip: ordering a pizza and eating it under the Bridge is definitely a bucketlist-esque event.

Every trip was an adventure of its own, so I’m not really able to condense them into this small section of this post. Doing that would be injustice to all the fun things that would have to be omitted.

And lastly, the most important of all

I’m a narcissist

If I’ve learned anything in the last year, it’s that being a self-loathing lazy antisocial play-it-safe panda doesn’t really give you the opportunity to really live.

That’s why I learned to love myself. Get out of my comfort zone. Show a middle finger to “a big scary obstacle”. Everything will pass; we’ll all die one day. So might as well leave this world in the best manner possible.

I hope you liked this introductory post. I plan on writing about programming, travelling, activism and all other cool things.

Write to you later,

Din.
