Howdy From The Great Southern Land

Hiya! I'm Dean Sheather, a young software developer from Queensland, Australia. In my spare time I chat to people on the internet using the popular chat application Discord, and develop a few side-projects like my decently largish private file sharing site (with an unfortunate name), https://whats-th.is.

My programming background is in Node.js, but recently I've been writing a lot of Golang applications (and I'm starting to dip my feet into Rust again). I've worked on websites, web applications, chat bots, distributed (microservice) applications and a few other interesting types of projects.

I'm a fan of internet memes (not entirely in the traditional sense), and I occasionally make memes in my spare-spare time. In fact, the other day I created a phone number that plays Smash Mouth's All Star when you call it.

I'm looking forward to spending time on Steemit and meeting new people, the idea behind using a blockchain as the database and rewards system for a social network kind of site seems extremely cool and innovative. I'll most likely spend a lot of my time in the #programming and #memes tags (for obvious reasons). I'm excited to continue learning more about this platform in the future.
