Where was I? Yep, roger that! I was writing my first Steemit post....

A thing I've had on my list of things to do for an embarrassingly long time, briefly popping into my head like a relative you've been meaning to call, or that weird drawer full of rubber bands and burnt out light bulbs you've been meaning to clear out because a friend told you about the Konmari method of organizing and how AMAZING IT IS, and you'd like to be one of those ultra organized, "on top of it" kinda people, with the flawlessly Instagrammable workspace and the mastery of yoga's crow pose but you're just you, so you do the best you can, you break promises to yourself on the regular but one day.... you DO IT. The execs at Nike would be so proud! You're doing the thing you said you would do! I'm sure that's what they've wanted all along... right?

I was introduced to Steemit by the indomitable @teamhumble, he's a damn great writer (you should check out his posts) and he happens to be one of my favorite bipeds on this here planet Earth.

So here I am. Clearly, I couldn't just log into Steemit and write the damn thing. I had to download a shiny new markdown writing app because of some bullshit excuse I told myself about how productive I'd be. Why do we make the point of entry so difficult? Just do the thing, Dayle. Quit talking about doing the thing, and how and why the thing needs doing (like you are right now) just DO THE THING.

My point of entry to Steemit?

Food.

Surprised? You shouldn't be, I'm sure as hell not. I'm an Italian American female, born and raised just outside NYC who used to run a food blog. Making food my point of entry is like making kiddie pools a point of entry for Michael Phelps, or systemic racism a point of entry for Donald Tru... No. Dayle, this isn't that kind of post. Not yet. ;)

Phil alerted me to a lovely young lady's recipe post here on Steemit. The lady was Sofia, otherwise known as @isshappy and the recipe was "Vegan Gluten Free Falafel Wrap". I believe the link he sent early that morning was accompanied by a simple yet effective "BOOM." And it was decided. I was making it THAT evening.

The three of us all exchanged pleasantries in the comments section of that post, a part of Steemit I'm not 100% comfortable with yet, by the way (so many buttons, steem power?? Whales?!!?) they both encouraged me to try the recipe out.

I dig falafel, and cooking has always been a great way for me to wind down, so later that day I ran to the store and got all the ingredients. Mom couldn't get why I wanted to cook, after the hours I've been pulling. See, not only do I manage anywhere between 3 and 5 clients in a week, I'm working on some projects that are really close to my heart with Phillio including shirts, domain name projects, advocacy ideas, live streaming concepts, all while trying to grow my Voice Acting portfolio, maintain a "Top Rated Freelancer" status on Upwork and level up Paladins champion, Seris, Oracle of the Abyss . Because priorities.

"What are you doing?, Just make a veggie burger!" mom exclaimed in the Jersey-est accent ever.

I would not be deterred.

You see, making makes me happy, even if it means I go to bed later, and wake up earlier and often don't see as much sunlight as I'd like.

Everything in it's time... which by the way, have you guys heard about those ancient Egyptian coins that archaeologists found that depict an impending alien invasion? They said something on them that had to do with "everything in its time" so needless to say, I'm pretty stoked about aliens coming back.

I DIGRESS.

The Falafel was AWESOME. I think mine came out a little too dry because I was limited both by my size of food processing device, and my ability to convert metric measurements, but I think by the next time, I'll have it nailed.

Here's my final result....

The tahini dressing that goes along with this recipe, also STRAIGHT FIRE.

I also made a little "salad" of cucumber, tomatoes, parsley, lemon juice, salt, pepper and olive oil and added beetroot hummus on the side because I'm extra and can't just DO THE THING.

All of that to say, I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this meal, not only because the recipe was solid, but because whenever I take the time to carefully curate and finesse a thing I'm making out of a genuine desire to push myself and put out the best product I can, the result is WAY more rewarding than just the benefits of the thing itself.

And so, that's going to be my approach to Steemit. I will, to the best of my ability, post regularly, and try to teach and tell stories that I think you might find interesting throughout my digital and geolocational travels, because here's the deal, I'm NOT trying to add to the digital noise echo chamber of self-absorption and vanity that is the internet . You many not like everything I have to say, and my titles may not be SEO optimized or clickbatey enough to hold your attention but that's not what I'm here for.

I'm here to make shit, and make shit well.

Until next time,
-Dayle

Thanks friend!

I just dealt with all these same issues @dayleeo, regarding steemit being on my list for 6 months! If I'd done it way back when, who knowwwwws where I'd be now! {probably the same physical place, but hey} I even downloaded WriteRoom which is a 'distraction free' writing platform. I think it did kinda help....just, 6 months later ha! Anyways, it's inspiring to see all the content you've generated since then! I had to scroll quite a bit to get to this intro - maybe I scrolled so deep that I entered the steemit/stalkerish realm! Hope not! Haha. Anyways, great posts. I'm going to go to yoga now thanks to you. This falafel looks so yum. <3

Haha I really wish there was a better way to sort through posts! I’m flattered you stuck it out to read my very first post- it’s true the dearteamhumble series did make up a TON of posts near the middle too lol

I guess it’s the same with exercise, it’s more important THAT you start at all and keep at it 💕

I can tell a gal like you has no shortage of stories!
