One Person That's Lost It All
Over the past five years I've spent a considerable amount of time in psych wards. The most interesting reason why I landed myself there was mania. During these periods of hyper awareness, I found myself thinking deeply about the future and the best way to help people. This quickly transitioned into letting go of reality and has taken me places I can almost no longer explain. I'm currently 27 years old and am still taking psychoactive medication.
I have a deep-seated longing to make an impact on the world and my original approach was to change the infrastructure that underpins it. I have come to realise however, taking the human component out of the equation is unenjoyable and hence a compromised pursuit. Instead now I find myself attempting to help people directly to enable them to get what they want out of life.
My interest lies in building something of my own. My central motivation is to increase mental health in the developed world. This may be somewhat of a cliché - man spends time in psych ward and wants to prevent people from landing themselves there - but I do honestly feel the system that supports and enables councillors, psychologists, psychiatrists and the like to make a living is at odds with the paradigm we find ourselves in.
It's call Patient Doctor Privilege or PD Privilege for short. What it is, how it works and why it is necessary are all valid questions but the answers to those questions will be explored in more detail in future posts. For now, I'd just like to gauge the community, see how things are done, provide valid feedback and post things I find interesting as they come to mind.
Steemit is a unique place. I've often found my comments and stories go unnoticed on social media. Perhaps they don't sit well with people or maybe they just don't care. What I am very interested to see is how I am received on this platform. And I'm curious to see how upvotes on Steemit, seeing as they are now an exchange of value and a point of validation, will change my interactions with others.
In life I am often misunderstood and at times I rub people the wrong way. How I operate, my perspective and what I am truly interested in are rarely explored. I am compelled to figure out what makes life tick, but I also have a very odd sense of humour and a strange way of pushing both extremes (introspectiveness and humour).
I'll try not to bore you and bring original content to the table, but my tone and general style will remain the same I'm sure. So, thanks for reading. I look forward to providing feedback and also hearing what others have to say.

Very honest and open post, you appear to have a great awareness of who you are and willing to admit your faults and areas you want to improve. Most people aren't able to analyse like this, I think it's a great skill.
