Introducing Compulove... And One Unique Way To Force Yourself To Get Things Done!
Hello my fellow Steemians, Steemers, and Steemonians. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Compulove.
I am an IT guru with over 20 years of experience in the IT industry. And I love technology.
What is Compulove you might ask? According to autocorrect, I'm Compulsive. But that's not true. The word Compulove is simply a blend word, computer and love. Similar to CompuServe, computer and serve, by the infamous ISP from back in the 90s. Does anyone remember them?
Anyway, so what is Compulove all about? Compulove is an amazing Steemit blog focused on computer tips, humor, help, nostalgia, and more. What is all of that exactly? Well, how about I just show you. Here’s a small taste of what each of these types of posts will entail.
Computer Tips
How to temporarily block time wasting websites so you can get things done!
Do you find yourself constantly checking sites like Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter instead of getting your work done? And when you make an attempt not check these sites, you still find yourself unconsciously checking them before you even realize it? Here are some free utilities you can use to temporarily block these sites for a certain period of time so you can force yourself to get things done.
PC Instructions:
Step 1: Go to https://www.focalfilter.com/ and download FocalFilter.
Step 2: Run the installer and follow the instructions.
If the installer tells you that you don’t have the Microsoft .NET framework installed on your PC, you will need to download and install it from here. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=9cfb2d51-5ff4-4491-b0e5-b386f32c0992
Step 3: Launch FocalFilter. It will be in your start menu under FocalFilter.
Step 4: Click “Edit My Site List”. Enter the websites that you wish to block. Click “Save”.
Step 5: Next to the word “Block for”, click the drop down list and choose the duration that you wish to block these sites for. For example, if your project is going to take at least an hour, choose “1 hour”.
Step 6: Click “Block My Site List” to start blocking. Warning: The only way to disable the blocks before the timer runs out is to reboot the computer.
Also, If it doesn’t block the sites right away, you will need to close out of all of your open browser windows. You will need to do the same to make the blocked sites work again once the timer is done.
Mac Instructions:
Step 1: Go to https://selfcontrolapp.com/ and download SelfControl.
Step 2: Open the DMG file and drag the SelfControl app into your Applications folder.
Step 3: Launch SelfControl from the Applications folder.
Step 4: Click “Edit Blacklist”. Enter the websites that you wish to block by clicking the + sign. Close the Domain Blacklist window when you are finished.
Step 5: Adjust the slider to the amount of time you wish to block these sites for. For example, if your project is going to take at least an hour, choose “1 hour”.
Step 6: Click “Start” to start blocking. Warning: You will not be able to disable this after it starts. Even if you restart or delete the application. Make sure you are ready.
Bonus: There are also browser based plugins for blocking sites if you don’t want to use either of these apps.

It's really great to have you as new Steemonian on this awesome platform. I hope you will enjoy Steemit just as much as I do. In my first 3 months I found out there is really a lot to discover. First of all about how Steemit precisely works (my suggestion is that you take your time to learn about that subj). But also to find out how you can find users that share interesting blogs? So who do you need to follow?
One of the things I really like is the social aspect. There are a lot of people willing to help you. And also after a little time you get a fan base. And last but not least, the are a lot of communities. Myself I joined the Dutch community (since I live in The Netherlands).

Hi @crypto-econom1st! Glad to hear there's another Commodore 64 fan on here. The Commodore 64 was my first computer so I will definitely find a way to include it in the future.
