My (forster) Dog Carlos - His way to my home

Hi everybody, my name is ChiG and I'm from Germany.

I am active in the animal protection for some years now. Our
animal-protection-association saves dogs and cats from Croatia, where
otherwise they would be euthanized after some weeks.

I fall in love the first time I saw Carlos in the shelter. He is such a
cutie..

It took some time until he could come to my home (I’m going to be his
forster home until he will find his forever home), and Carlos' health
was getting worse and worse. He didn't wants to eat or drink for
several days.

After two weeks, Carlos looks like this:



He was very scared, with 7 other dogs in the kennel, the heat of the
summer and rar food and drink, you see every rib on his body.









The association knew, he couldn't wait any longer in the shelter.

On the next saving-trip to Croatia, Carlos was taken to the car and
driven to Germany. The whole trip took 22 hours, but he was very calm
in his box and waits patiently to whats happening next.



He discovered carefully his new surroundings, and quickly lies down on
his blanket to sleep. (It was a really hard trip for him).



On the next days, he was very exhausted. He didn't want to eat or drink
anything. He just lied around in the yard and watches what's happening
around him.


I went to the vet to check Carlos up. He was very dehydrated and first
of all got an infusion. He needed lots of repose, the vet tells me.

At that time, Carlos starts drinking by himself. A little hope. But he
hardly eats. No matter what (dog food, dog yummies, chicken filet,...),
the eats two bits and is sated.

The long time of undernutrition, the dehydration.. All this could
be seen in his whole body.



I went to another vet, to check him again. I didn't
trust the first one, repose couldn't be the answer.



Carlos has a bad infection in his stomach. He needs lot of medicine.
We’ll see how he is doing in some days...
