Introduction, real story of both success and failure, a poll and an announcement - all in one.
What we do and who we are?
Hi guys and galls,
We are Cyan Triangle (Chesiq & Nasty) and we have arrived on steemit! Yay!
We do DESIGN. We love design and art and games and all sorts of nerd stuff. (nerd in a good way xD, because we are nerds, and nerds kick ass!)
Here is a part of our story.
We had a stable, boring life.
We had a really good paying day jobs.. For most people this is the dream.. But we did the dumbest thing.. or the best thing in our lives, depends on what you personally value.
We bought state of the art pc's and had very little savings but we decided that we will produce something.. an app or a game or service, and succeed in life that way. Savings where very little, and plan was unrealistic of course. And we failed... to a point of no money, no clients and just one visible way of making any profit is by winning contests on 99designs..
Another illusion and bad planning.. Since majority of our portfolio was NDA or just unimpressive to find clients..
But winning a contest.. that's not just getting a design done, and taking the money, it meant making something better than what other designers do.. It's hard. It's very hard because there are people out there with skills that at that point where better. And clients.. they sometimes pick not what every designer would call the best design so there is an element of despair. Just complete despair after loosing contest after contest..
But instead of the giving up, we told ourselves now is the time to get our shit together and kick ass..
Because this
You succeeded, or you died. Like vikings.
And we monstrously jumped from design quality of mediocre level to next level design. How? We just polished designs and raised our own bar of standard, what passes and what gets reworked. We wanted to make impressive portfolio items so we could release it on Behance, and get more clients so even failing in the contest meaning winning for us. Every contest - meant reinvent for us. Make a step forward in design. Be fresh on trends, so we could invent the next ones.
Skills
After getting skills there.. clients all of a sudden would pick other designs, arguably worse. And knowing that our friends have a well paying jobs and we are locked at home putting our ends together.. it was pretty hard.
But it was our choice. We wanted a company. A studio. We wanted our own portfolio. We wanted to really become super designers. The BEST. And guess what? We did.
We persevered and started to change our mind about the contests. We could think that it is the clients fault or other designer stolen idea fault or whoever else's fault but that just does not help at all. We understood that we just need to stump on that fault and move forward and win and improve no matter what. There was no way back for us. Going back to a day job after failing, after playing economy survival simulator real life edition - seemed like picking a difficulty level lower than we already selected for ourselves. Only hardcore survival. Legendary. Difficulty. \m/
We became top level , the highest tier witch was formerly called PLATINUM(platinum designer.. that sounded so dank, DAMN.. but yeah top level now, we became top level designer on 99designs.
And then moved on upwork and became top rated with 100% job success score.
But we failed a lot on our path.
But really what is failure? It means you are DOING SOMETHING! It's experience that you should endorse and understand and stop failing!
We had to work soo much to get any kind of money after our initial plans collapsed in front of us. Our appstore app ideas never seen light because we ended up arguing a lot and just demolished our own creations in the process of being - too unworthy, too simple, too bad, too weak of an idea, too hard of an execution..
But now?
Now we are hosting a Behance event locally in a month(23 october) and we are going to stream it (in English), we have great clients and we can really kick ass in design. We also give away design assets for free for designers and everyone seem to love them. We want to help others, we want to give back what we got, and we really want to be a part of the community here, on steem.it
Now that we are here..
We hope our blog can motivate you to finish your project, or raise your skills in your craft, no matter how hard it is, your level of design, coding, modeling.. Persevere through problems, shape shift problems and obstacles into motivation to grow stronger muscles to jump higher and get over them. Never think in negative key, take responsibility in your own hands and DO IT.
We do not believe in talent. Talent..
TALENT?!!
What talent man? If you believe in talent then you should believe in santa. If you can believe in stuff like that I mean. Good for you.
But for me it's just an easy excuse to be lazy and don't work your ass more to get to some level of SKILLS.
Hard stuff in life? That's actually fun, how difficult of a game scenario your life has given you, and as a result, getting past that will seem far bigger achievement than actually getting everything on a silver plate, what's the fun in playing that game?
Now..
Question:
What assets do you guys want us developed for free that many people could benefit from here on steemit? Templates.. anything.. maybe something just you personally need?
here is a link to a poll, where you can add your answer, it's an open poll, and we will add every suggestion on our schedule and release it eventually, even if it's a skin-nable "make your own" Donkey template, no hard feelings, we love animals, and donkeys: http://bit.ly/2wOxwOe (press other and add your answer)
On the last note, we don't really know how to get to know people here, so we hope we can do so by means of honest introduction, and find honest like minded people that we can kick ass with in design and beyond.
Since we are here I think we know some stuff that can help so we made a telegram chat were you can just come and hang out and talk about whatever(we want to think it's design oriented). Come hang out with us. http://bit.ly/CyanDesignGroup
And of course.. Thank you! For reading to the end! You sure pack some perseverance skills!
